Dishonoured Reviews looking good

If you are excited for Dishonored then you'll be pleased to know that the review scores are in and they are looking good. A list of some of the reviews so far are below, although you should probably read our review first.

Here's a quote and a link to our review:

"There are so many characters, possibilities and outcomes as well as countless ways to play through each mission. The path you take will lead you many different ways, but each will be just as pleasing as the last." - ShopTo (Excellent).

Here's what some of the other reviews around the internet have to say:

"It's a big, shiny example of so much we keep asking for in games, but rarely get. Luckily, the best way to vindicate it is to buy and then play an amazing game." - PC Gamer (92/100)

IGN (9.2/10) -
"Players who really take the time to enjoy the experience are rewarded too. The more runes, bone charms and money you find, the more you can augment and upgrade your character, and the more bad-ass you'll become."

EDGE (9/10) - "It's a rare delight to play a game with such consistency of vision, its art design, level architecture, rulesets, storylines and writing all working in lockstep."

Gamespot (9/10) - "It's a rare game that feels so compulsively re-playable, but Dishonored is such a game."

Official PlayStation Magazine (9/10) - "It's a wake-up call for first-person gaming, resurrecting
long-lost values and casually plunging a knife into the neck of the generic sequel."

Official Xbox Magazine (9/10) - "Arkane Studios has crafted what's likely the year's best new IP, and by tapping into elements of so many of this generation's greatest games, this adventure sneaks up, grabs you, and won't let go."

The Verge (9/10) - "With everything against it, Arkane has created a game with a unifying vision and design that stands apart from its contemporaries as something different. But more importantly, Dishonored succeeds as an ambitious game not content to take one thing and do it well."

Destructoid (9/10) - "Dishonored is that game of 2012. It's the big intellectual property that comes to retail and shows up the competition by being bold, original, and more importantly brilliant. Easily deserving of its place among the BioShocks and the Borderlandses, Arkane's aggressive, non-aggressive, unsubtle, sneaky, thoroughly versatile tale of intrigue makes for the kind of game that reminds us this generation isn't all straightforward shooters and 'me too' trend-seekers."

GameArena (10/10) - "Dishonored, like Thief, or Deus Ex, is one of those timeless games you'll play a dozen times."

GameSpy (4.5.5) - "A supernatural work of videogame art."

The Escapist (5/5) - "Grab it so you'll know what everyone is talking about when the Game of the Year conversations start happening."

Kotaku - "It's a bizarre, eclectic blend, the type of combination that might seem too ambitious to work. But the resulting game is nothing short of a masterpiece."

Giant Bomb (4/5) - "Dishonored is an excellent game, and one worthy of your attention."

GamesRadar (4.5/5) - "Dishonored is a game that you won't want to miss."

Rock, Paper, Shotgun - "Dishonored is a work of rare imagination and skill, the sort of thing that can't simply be copied and repeated."

Joystiq (4.5.5) - "Dishonored is remarkably polished, bending stealth action in new directions and offering plenty of freedom."

Game Informer (8.75/10) - "The team at Arkane Studios has injected an array of cool possibilities into the simulated city of Dunwall, and discovering them all is a blast."

CVG (9.5/10) - "One of the greatest games of this generation."

Holy crap those are some good scores. If I don't win I doubt I'll be able to stop myself from dipping into my savings for this one. My god I dont remember the last time a game did this good

Hahaha, the reviews certainly are good! I'm gonna have to pay close attention to this game when it's released! Or hope, like you, that I get lucky this week.

Guess I'm just going to have to be super interesting this week. Honestly though, while I'd love to win as long as I play this game I'll be quite happy in the end

The game I'm most looking forward to is Metal gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.. but unfortunately it's not out till late 2013 Wah!

Yeah, I'm holding off on my hype for that one. Too long away to get excited for me

I just love metal gear solid. My all time favourite gaming series! I have a list of about 15 potential games that are coming out in the next few months. I am so broke.

Big fan myself. Whats your take on Revengeance? I'm looking very much forward to it but a lot of people arent too keen

I'm going to treat it as it's intended to be. A spin off. Too many people are expecting it to be of the same quality as the original series and are saying it's doing bad for not being sneaky anymore. However all this game is trying to be is a fun hack and slash game with a ninja. I'm sure the storytelling will be top par as per usual and honestly I'm looking forward to it! Raiden will never be more interesting than Big Boss in a million years though!

I keep doing that aswell. Thats how I see the game. I'm a big fan of Platinum so I doubt they'd let us down as far as a good hack and slash game goes. Also loving the cutting mechanics

I keep coming back to videos for this game, as I am not 100% convinced that it isn't just reinventing Bioshock. I had read a few reviews now, and it seems it may have won me over a little. I might wait until all the other big releases are done with in the next 5/6 weeks and then come back to this (still playing Resi 6). It looks soooooo good though!!

That was my very first reaction but I've been convinced that its not like Bioshock at all now. It looks outstanding

Darn them be some good review scores. I completely ignored this game myself thinking it wouldn't be anything special but having a few review vids, I think I might pick this up at some point

I think it may be a sure fire winner - it managed to keep out of the limelight until it's official announcement. As it wasn't "featured" before the first trailer, I felt it might have been a little lacking. I think I was wrong (for once :P)

Its been creating quite a lot of buzz the last few months. Atleast in my frequented websites. Its looked so unique I was worried it may have went the same way as some of the other unique looking games like Inversion. Glad to see its definately not the case

Been looking forward to this for ages, but have deliberately kept myself in the dark about it. I'm sure it deserves all the high scores, just don't want to read the reviews. I'll wait and enjoy it from a position without bias or expectations.

Do that, then let us know if you agree with what we have to say about it :D

I was gonna take that approach but I thought bugger it, I wanna know. Between the review and some of the commenters here I am rather hyped up. Haven't seen too much gameplay so I'll probably hold off on that as some suprise is always nice

Pretty huge scores across the board. I've tried to avoid most media on the game like I do with most (wasn't able to resist reading a few reviews of it though inc. the one here) and like I said in those comments it's great to see it being so well received. The game had me interested from when it was announced. Hope I can get my hands on it soon :/.

Wow, lowest it got was an 8.7 as far as I can tell. This looks like it may end up as GOTY. I'm dying to play it now!

being a Bethesda game and based on previous experience, i'm not entirely convinced it will be glitch free, so i'll wait for a price drop rather than drop 40 quid on it.
scourge's avatar
it isn't a bethesda developed game, they're just the producers. i believe it's developed by Arkane studios.

I really want this game but with everything else that's coming out I can't really justify purchasing it... guess I'll have to give ShopTo's brilliant competition to win a copy of the game a try!
