Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 to get season pass

The official Call of Duty UK website has revealed that Black Ops 2 will be getting a Season Pass.

It looks like this will cover various content being released later down the line for the game, although it doesn't seem to be related to Call of Duty: Elite.

In fact, according to the homepage, Elite may once again be free, with those looking for extra features being asked to pay a subscription, which would no doubt include free access to the season pass mentioned above.

Here are the details:

Get 4 Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 downloadable content Map Packs, delivering a variety of new content, including Multiplayer and Zombies playable content.

- Save $10, at discounted suggested retail price of ?34.99
- Content expected to be available in 2013 ? following the game's launch on 11/13/12
- Check for availability at your local Game Stop or Best Buy.

*Based on Season Pass suggested retail price of 34.99 and four DLC Map Packs at a suggested retail price of $14.99 each.
**Season Pass and DLC Map Packs may not be available on all platforms or in all territories. Pricing and release dates may vary by platform. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 game required; sold separately

It does seem like this has been posted up on the site in error, as it can no longer be found, however it's genuine as seen by the screen capture below.

Thanks, MP1st.

Totally unsurprising.

Appears this is the way things are going from now on.

For a lot of games, and it's a good thing if you are going to buy all the DLC. It's a bit of a leap of faith though buying a season pass on the games release, there's no guarantee you are going to like or even want some of the DLC.

As long as the content is new and not filled with rehashed maps, I think I'll get it

Think I'll wait till I've played the game for at least a month before i make my decision. I hope it's better then MW3 that game was shocking, sold mine after a month!

So, what's the deal with Elite? I have Elite Premium so that I got the DLC for an all-in-one price plus all the other bits and bobs. I didn't get my Elite until February (when I got back to the UK and bought MW3) thus do I have rollover Elite for use with Black Ops (part of the Call of Duty Elite package I had assumed?) Or do I have to spend more on a season pass for black ops 2 and have elite plus renew it when it expires?! Somewhat confused.

Wow, I was expecting to have to pay 800msp per map pack with the season pass. They've always had horrible pricing for maps. Yet I always bought them...

For once I'm gunna buy the new medal of honor over the CoD franchise, I played Black Ops 2 at eurogamer, and i felt nothing but dissapointment, Medal of Honor however peiced together the best of the world with some amazing gameplay and the online is amazing too!

i really dislike the whole idea of releasing new maps. you pay £40 for a game you expect it to be all in. i don't mind if there released a year after the game but when games are releasing dlc so close to just being released i think it really takes the biscuit.

Really the price of DLC is getting beyond control now I mean it not like Activision need the money. Map packs should be £5 each end off

They will be with the season pass, about twenty quid for 4 map packs.

Yes I know but I'm talking about DLC in general it is usually overpriced for what you get & when you exchange the rates for USD & GBP it does work out to about that but we all know it isn't that simple in this Europe. Activision will change the most they think they will get away with simple as.

Not much you can do about it though, apart from just not buy them, but that's not going to make any difference really, not when there's so many people with more money than sense that lap up anything with the name CoD on it.

Don't get me wrong I am glad Treyarch are trying something different for this release but just think Black Ops 2 will outsell Bioshock Infinite by approximately 8 to 1 (Bit of a exaggeration but you get my point)

It's probably not that much of an exaggeration, it's stupid how much these games sell when they are basically the same game year in year out with a few minor tweaks, some new maps and a new, incredibly short, story. I gave up on them a long time ago.

I think I'll 'Pass' on this just like I do every 'Season' that COD comes around... I'll still get the game cheap on release day but I'm not gonna pay extra for more content being that I barely plan to play the online at all, plus I'm already paying for XBL so that will do.

You shell out for the game plus the money for XBL to get online then they want to just keep sucking more cash out of you with extra DLC and whatever else. At the end of the day is there really going to be a massive difference in gameplay campared to the other COD games....probably not and it'll still suffer with all the usual probs. Hope it's going to be better than MW3 cos that was shocking.

I am pleased this is coming - similar to the premium elite account I held last year for MW3. I always tell myself that I won't bother with DLC for CoD, but i always go back on my word (oops). So this will reduce my costs! :D
