New PS3 Firmware brings Trophy tweaks; PS Vita trophies to PS3

Sony's new 4.30 Firmware for PS3 will be released tomorrow, bringing several changes to how Trophies are displayed on your PlayStation 3.

According to Sony, the Trophy Collection will now reside under the PlayStation Network icon on the XMB, while trophies that you have earned playing PlayStation Vita games will now also be displayed on your PlayStation 3. You will also be able to see your Trophy level and progress towards the next level while viewing your trophy collection.

In addition to the above, Sony has also announced that by the beginning of November 2012, it will retire the services available through the Life with PlayStation application. In conjunction with its retirement, Sony will stop offering the Life with PlayStation application to new users with the 4.30 update.

Sony says that more than 15 million users that have participated in the program since it started on PS3 in 2007. PS3 users have donated in total more than 100 million computation hours to the Folding@home project to date, and as a result, contributing greatly to Stanford University's Alzheimer's disease research.

I find it sad that they are ending folding@home. The fact that you could contribute to alzheimers research was groovy. Left it running a few times :D

Good to see them finally doing this always annoying not being able to see the vita trophies on ps3. Don't understand why they would stop the folding at home thing especially if it's helping.

I seem to update my PS3 more than I actually play it at the moment, not enough time to play it... I should really change that, this update seems reasonable anyway as it might encourage me to play my Vita a bit more too.
