Joe Madureira leaves Vigil Games

Comic book legend Joe Madureira, has announced his departure from developer Vigil Games after seven years.

"So long @Vigilgames @THQ," he tweeted. "Thanks for all the memories! @Darksiders was definitely a career highlight. Keep on kicking ass I'm a fan for life!"

Madureira, was creative director on the Darksiders series and designed most of the world in which the game takes place. It goes without saying that his talent will definitely be missed.

"Farewell and best wishes to all my brothers and sisters at Vigil Games!" he said. "After seven long years and two hit games (Darksiders BABY!) I'm afraid the time has come for me to move on to new adventures.

"I could not be more proud of what we achieved, or the awesome people who helped build up this studio. I can safely say Vigil's future is in very good hands, so expect only awesomeness down the road. This feels surreal... I miss the place already."

Madureira, who is best known for work on The Uncanny X-Men, will return to comics for now, although that may very well change in the future.

A shame he is leaving. But I wish him the best of luck, loved his artwork a bit more in Darksiders 1 than Darksiders 2.

Haven't played DS2 yet. (its in the pile to play) but the art style from the first game was a big highlight of it. Hopefully they can keep this unique style without him.
