Xbox 'Entertainment for All" packs 'coming soon' to US

Microsoft has revealed that it'll be releasing some new 'Entertainment for All' packs in the US. Allowing those who take up the offer to pay a subscription fee and get a new console at the same time.

The deal allows you to buy a console at the prices listed above, while also paying $14.99 per month for 24 months to allow access to Xbox LIVE Gold.

This works out a lot more expensive than actually buying the console and Gold outright, although given that not everyone can afford to do so, it makes getting hold of a console a little easier.

There is no indication that this deal will make its way over to Europe at this time.

What do you think?

Terrible idea. I say if it works out more expensive then usual just save up money for a good deal. Or atleast a deal that isn't outright ripping you off

Cheap initial outlay I suppose, but otherwise a rip off. Be interesting to see how it goes from a business perspective.

Am I missing something? $99 for a console + $360 for two year gold subscription? O'rly? Two year subscription for a service and a console that will be pretty much dead in a year, right? Assuming that next E3 will reveal next gen...

It's no different to any other instalment plan. Its something that works for lower income households. Having more choice is never a bad thing.

All those people saying this is a rip-off but I think you'll find the vast majority of people use this exact system whenever they get a new mobile phone and don't complain about it then. It's the same thing, low cost at first and steady monthly payments for the service for a set term. And yes people could do the same thing and save their cash and buy a phone sim free then get a much cheaper contract.
