Assassin's Creed III & Liberation both get day one patches
30 Oct, 2012Assassin's Creed III and it's portable cousin Liberation are both set to receive day one patches when they release tomorrow.
Assassin's Creed III: Liberation's patch notes are as follows:
1. Dutch Manual Updated
2. Minor Gameplay Issues Fixed
3. Economic System Issues Fixed
4. Fixed Incorrect Increase of Notoriety
5. Multiplayer Issue Fixed
6. Map Fog Issues Fixed
7. Full Synchronisation Issue Fixed
8. Sound Issues Fixed
Assassin's Creed III is also getting a day one patch on the PS3 and Xbox 360, but a considerably larger one than Liberation, with 44 fixes in total. Official Playstation Magazine says that it is highly recommended that you updated. There was some serious spoilers in the patch list that I've left out not to ruin anyone's enjoyment of the game.
Bug Fix
- Animus Synching tutorial, fixed an issue where the player could think he's stuck in an infinite loading when getting to Boston after the end credits
- Fixed a bug where counter-killing with the bow does not always work
- NPCs spawned too far away could end up being of the wrong type
- Camera could remain stuck after the player being respawned
- Player could remain stuck after diving from a waterfall
- Player could remain stuck if he exits a slopped hay stack at a certain angle
- player would always get immediately detected when performing an unarmed stealth assassination in another guard's back
- Under rare circumstances, the crowd would stop spawning
- Fixed an animation glitch when interrupting the reception from high profile jump
- Fixed various occurrences of missing sounds
- In some cases, the Animus Database sound ambiance was not stopped when exiting
- Various stats and leaderboards were not showing up properly
- Online shop could sometimes appear empty if fetching the data from Xbox Live is taking too long
Crash Fix
- Possible crash that could happen if the player blends in a crowd group where some NPCs haven't spawned yet, and while blended performs a kill.
- Possible crash that could happen if the player triggered a loading while being in a covert escort formation with his brotherhood trainees
- Possble crash that could happen when calling a brotherhood trainee with the snipe ability
Naval Missions
- Possible crash if the player spams the swivel guns with the semi-automatic cheat enabled
Side Quest
- Brawler Challenges 3 - Task 'Own every weapon available in the stores' would not complete when the player expects it to.
- Fort Monmouth and Fort Division - Quest objectives would fail too early without the fort resetting properly
- New York delivery mission - Game asked for a different item (deer heart) than what was showed to the player (venison)
- New York Liberation Missions - Possible that the game would wrongly display that 2 of the districts were completely liberated when it's not the case yet.

I'm feeling like a broken record now going on about unfinished games being released. The most shocking things is some of the bugs are game breakers. Surely these should be picked up through Sony and MS tests?? Unfortunately it seems to be the bigger game franchises with the most and worst bugs. At least it's getting fixed I suppose.

to all the people moaning that the developers releasing a unfinished game, that's bull-crap. it's the PUBLISHERS! that rush these games not developers. plus the game went into manufacturing 3 months ago and the problems weren't found till after so all they could do was a first day patch or delay manufacturing. which would have cost them millions! and the whole fanbase would have been in a uproar about it being delayed. so in short, stop bitching it's getting boring.

Atleast it isn't a one hour patch like i hear MOH was lol, I don't mind so much if it is manageable patch, and prefer it to be released on day one rather than months into its release. (Skyrim)....

MOH Warfighter still isn't fixed as mine crashed, will wait for update 1.02 for that.
I think it is terrible that games are released with game braking problems. Games released in the past would get recalled or just suffer the bargain bin. What if they don't manage to fix the problems at day one? Skyrim? Some people suffered problems after 10, 20, 40 or even 80 hours and still it isn't fixed.
I still pre-ordered MOH and AC though but don't agree with day one patches for game brakers as it is laziness. Should only be used for minor things.
By the way Wii and DS games cannot be patched and 3DS has only just gained the capabilities for patches. I haven't had major problems with any high profile game on that but Nintendo games do get delayed quite a bit.
