SEGA confirms new Sonic games for 2013

SEGA has confirmed that it will be releasing 'several' new Sonic titles next year, as well as a new 'retail' game.

"Over the next year there will be a big focus on the expansion of [Sonic licensed] toy distribution across Europe," SEGA's European head of brand licensing Sissel Henno told Toys 'n' Playthings magazine.

"Similarly, we will also be growing the apparel, publishing and stationary categories. We will have several new digital titles launching as well as a new boxed game, so there will be plenty of opportunities to link marketing campaigns across games and merchandise."

It seems like there must still be enough faith in the old boy yet, given that SEGA continues to pump money into new games and merchandise. If only they could recapture the Sonic of the good old days, maybe one day.

Thanks, Videogamer.

Hopefully it'll be a Wii U title. Sega seem to work magic on Nintendo's consoles. Sonic Colours and the Rush series were some of the best Sonic titles yet.

hopefully they'll be better than the sonic games we've had in the last several years.

Probably find merchandise and toys sell more than the last few games have! I wonder if the box game will end up being a 3DS game with digital titles for PS3, 360 and Wii U.

Really hope they bring a FULL quality graphic Sonic! No stupid gimmicks, no wierd name just a full straight traditional Sonic game we deserve! Starting to lose faith with Sega lately, show something at E3 that you really mean business and get your fans back on the side!
