Japanese Charts, Nov 12-18: Animal Crossing stays top, Vita gets a boost

This week's Japanese latest charts are in, showing another fantastic week for the 3DS in Japan. Despite Animal Crossing selling extremely well last week it continues to sell strongly. Sony should also be happier this week, since the PS Vita got a huge boost thanks in part to new colours being released and thanks in part to Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, which debuts at number six.

That's quite an improvement for the console, over 200% increase on previous weeks sales. I expect this to continue now we're seeing some good quality games released for it, along with PS+ comign to the system. Good times.

Nice that it's doing better. Might mean more JRPG support that we won't get. Although on the other hand all of Sony's consoles together aren't even coming to the amount of sales the regular 3DS is getting. Not even looking at the XL.

Yeah I agree. A sales boost, no matter how small , is still a boost and a good sign

Surprised to see MoH up there. I didn't know FPS rubbish like that sold well in Japan

Not sure they do. Looks like they sell well the first week but then these sales drop. Wasn't Halo 4 up there in Japan's last week and not there at all this

I hope the Vita can begin to pick up sales soon. It's such an awesome system but Sony really need to be bringing out the big guns. They need a Monster Hunter game on there stat!

Problem is that Monster Hunter is coming to the 3DS. Which means it'll likely sell less. Best it can hope for at this point is a final fantasy.

Isn't Monster Hunter just a glorified 'hunting' game? I've seen some of the Wii 'Tri' game in action - seemed like the motivation to kill was for money; with the main character exploiting the villagers and their dopey superstitions and hysteria. I'm willing to give any nasty game a go, but sometimes even the most open-minded game or family friendly game has a sinister edge or undertone.

Exactly, that is the problem, that Monster Hunter is coming to 3DS. Let's not forget Japan already has Monster Hunter 3 on 3DS and will soon get the already unveiled Monster Hunter 4. It will sell millions and help sell millions more hardware. It's quite ridiculous Sony is letting this slip, because don't forget the PSP was home to a few MH games, and that helped push hardware tremendously in Japan. The Vita is such a great system but I can understand why devs may not want to make games for it. It's just simply not attracting the attention of the public the way the 3DS has. So when looking at the install base it's obvious devs will migrate to the system where the likeliness of huge sales is more determined. Sony need to get onto their first party devs and push AAA titles that will sell systems. Call of Duty should have been that game, and no doubt it's helped sell a few Vita's to those who either bought the Vita + COD bundle day one because there were no reviews out, or just simply those who thought they were getting a console COD experience on the go. However it's not going to be a huge seller like's it's console counterparts.

Very good to see Vita sales improving. Let's hope, in the words of Yazz, 'The Only Way Is Up'.

American company is the reason. Nintendo and Sony, being Japanese, have better sales over there. Just like in America, the 360 is big.
