Sumo looks to fans to decide on Sonic All-Stars DLC

Sumo Digital is looking to fans to get behind a campaign requesting DLC characters.

"I'll set you a challenge. Without any policing from the SUMO or SEGA crew, if you can all agree on three characters by the first of December and prove there is sufficient interest of at least 1000 unique people per character, I will present the result to SEGA," said Sumo's Steve Lycett to Sega forum users (via VG247).

"I can't promise anything will happen as a result, but since you're starting it, let's see if you can organise yourselves in the next few weeks to pull that off."

The community has already responded by setting up a forum to collect votes on which characters people would like to see, with Segata Sanshiro having 2077 votes; vocaloid Hatsune Miku has 1801; and Shenmue's Ryo Hazuki has 1699. In addition, Vectorman, Ristar and Bayonetta all have over 500 votes too.

Sumo isn't promising that these characters will be released, especially in the case of third party characters, however it has suggested that it'll do its upmost to convince SEGA.

Is that Wreck-It-Ralph? Must be a tie-in for the film, not even a sonic character XD I did notice that some of these DLC requests were actually chars who were in the first game. Made me wonder if some of these were purposely taken out to put back in as DLC

Taken out for DLC content later? Now you're catching on to video gaming - 2012 style. ;)

I would love to see bayonetta as a dlc character, but I dont mind who it is as long as there is new content coming out for the game because it's a great game!

I think for a laugh they should try and get Mario in it, they had Sonic in Smash Bros, and they keep teaming up for their Olympic games.

Good idea, Gloria. Would be great to get Mario in there. :)

It's unlikely though, maybe for the Wii U version, but I can't see Nintendo allowing Mario on another console.

They should put in Axel stone & Blaze Fielding from Streets Of Rage, Tyris Flare from Golden Axe and maybe someone from Valkyria Chronicles, Welkin, Alicia or Selvaria Bles.

I reckon they should put "Classic" Sonic in as DLC, that would be cool,

Love this idea, more developers should look into it. the community gets DLC they want the Developers know there will be sufficient interest in the DLC to make it worth making. I would love to see shenmue in it too, possibly Shinobi or the chameleon kid dude.

I would like to know they've patched the game up fully before contemplating more issues with add-ons and DLC around to further screw-up the game - must fill up my cynic gauge for today.

I think this idea works better than developers (i.e. BioWare) asking people where an entire game should go. This is a much more simple and effective way of engaging the community. That said, I second Ristar. Not enough love is shown his way. He deserves a few laps of honour. :D I'd love to see Vectorman as well.

Nice to see a developer communicating and getting involved with the fans.
