Sumo looks to fans to decide on Sonic All-Stars DLC
23 Nov, 2012"I'll set you a challenge. Without any policing from the SUMO or SEGA crew, if you can all agree on three characters by the first of December and prove there is sufficient interest of at least 1000 unique people per character, I will present the result to SEGA," said Sumo's Steve Lycett to Sega forum users (via VG247).
"I can't promise anything will happen as a result, but since you're starting it, let's see if you can organise yourselves in the next few weeks to pull that off."
The community has already responded by setting up a forum to collect votes on which characters people would like to see, with Segata Sanshiro having 2077 votes; vocaloid Hatsune Miku has 1801; and Shenmue's Ryo Hazuki has 1699. In addition, Vectorman, Ristar and Bayonetta all have over 500 votes too.
Sumo isn't promising that these characters will be released, especially in the case of third party characters, however it has suggested that it'll do its upmost to convince SEGA.

I think this idea works better than developers (i.e. BioWare) asking people where an entire game should go. This is a much more simple and effective way of engaging the community.
That said, I second Ristar. Not enough love is shown his way. He deserves a few laps of honour. :D I'd love to see Vectorman as well.
