Sony preparing Vita firmware 2.01

Sony has announced that it's found a minor bug in its recently released firmware (v2.0) for PS Vita and that it is currently working on a fix for this.

The bug in the recently released PS Vita firmware 2.00 causes the automatic save upload functionality to fail, although only PS Plus subscribers can access this feature.

To fix this Sony says that it is expecting to release its latest firmware "as soon as possible."

Thanks, Exophase.

Exactly where the game industry is in 2012 - updates of updates! In the good ol' days of video gaming - the 80s - when a game was just game and a console was just a console. Simple, uncorrupted, sublime gaming! ;)

Yeah, and broken games stayed broken, forever! You got to at least acknowledge the fact that it's a good thing games and hardware can be fixed remotely now. You couldn't back in the 80's. And that seems like the kind of issue that only comes to light once more than the 11 people in QA start to use it!

Good that they spotted it early and will hopefully patch it quickly enough.

True but i remember that games ( and software interface's) were checked a lot more properly back then. Everybody's in a rush these days....

to be fair, modern games have alot of work put into them. alot of coding is required as well. back in the day, games were very simple bits of code. mistakes are bound to happen

The advances have shown just how flawed the human mind really is; why nearly every release is bugged on first-day. The software designers get away with unfinished product because people are enamoured with flashy games; they tend to let it slide if it looks good. Still in 2012, style over substance appears to win out on each occasion. I've heard many people complain about COD: Black Ops 2's multiplayer gameplay, then support it by saying how great it looks straight after!

DAM :D It was nearly the perfect update FW2.00. Things like this make SONY look bad :-/ But then again it happens to Microsoft all the time but the online gaming sites seem to just ignore any Xbox problems :-/ Oh well.

Sony look bad? They have already done this to themselves long ago. Every single Sony piece of hardware has broken down on me at least once. This includes home, car, and entertainment products. Their customer service is just horrible, only EA beats them and claims that title. They are almost a facsimile of EA, producing a product which will only run their brand of memory, software, addons etc... The PSP was awesome but each firmware usually was just to kill homebrew. I won't buy a VITA until there is the ability to play my old games on it (scumm for one) and a memory adapter comes out where I can use my own brand I want to use with it. Sony always has a home here ( )*( ).

Glad I never bought a ps1/ps2/ps3 even though I'd really like to play Heavy Rain. Worst component I had was a Sony cross-over for your car audio system, cost me almost $500 after taxes. Worked for about 2 weeks then just died. I got it fixed, they said it was the coppertracing on the pcboard. After I picked up the fixed unit and reinstalled it, on the way back home I could start to smell something burning, like a resistor (you never forget the smell of one of those burning up, so I knew it was electrical). Pulled over to check it out and its the Sony crossover once again dead. I just got it replaced for another brand and thats when I tried to stay away from anything Sony. Another thing you have to watch out for is rebranded items. Lite-on years ago used to use dvdburners made by Sony and those were just garbage, mine would always make an uncorrectable error at 50% of a disc, then I just used it to read game discs or what not, until it started to fail reading those.
