Far Cry 3 gets day one patch on PC



Far Cry 3 is to get a day one patch on PC and it sounds like you may want to download it if you want the best experience.

The new patch is apparently needed "in order to benefit from an optimal game experience." The Uplay PC client will install the patch automatically so you're only requirement is to be connected online.

Here's the patch notes:

MULTIPLAYER

GENERAL

- Improved overall Multiplayer stability and performance.
- Added SHOW TOP, SHOW YOU, PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN options in Leaderboards.
- Fix the voice chat issue that would mute players by default.
- Lobby chat can now be accessed when a controller is connected.

CO-OP

- Fixed graphical issues on loading screen hints.
- Fixed the issue that would prevent maps from being displayed or randomized the first time a user enters Public Co-op.
- Health regeneration option no longer has inverted functionality.
- "Flare gun" kills are no longer considered as Assist kills.

PVP

- Fixed ground texture resolution.
- Grass surrounding fire spawns no longer remain red on Firestorm maps.

MAP EDITOR

- Improved white objects thumbnails legibility.
- Users can now start a private match in 1 player on user created maps.

SINGLE PLAYER

- Improved game stability and performance.
- Fixed issues with flickering on specific water textures.
- Fixed small UI glitches related to different display resolutions.
- Weapon cache mission: Mission Zone and Mission Marker no longer stays on mini-map and on screen after mission completion.
- Crafting items are now auto selected when entering a new crafting category.
- Added sound when zooming in and out the camera with the mouse scroll button.

Yeah Day one patchs or ones soon after release are now part and parcel of the gaming world.

They fix a release date and stick to it! Look at Skyrim, they had to/wanted to stay with 11.11.11 no matter what the consequences of the PS3 version! ;)

Aslong as these problems are not on the Xbox version with no patch then i don't mind. Mine didn't arrive today :( But can't wait till tomorrow now :D

every decent game has a day 1 patch lol but I would rather it be a release day fix than weeks after the release!

Some might argue that a game should be 100% complete upon its release and I agree, but with the pressures of release dates, it doesn't always work out that way. So it’s good that we have so many games that are supported with patches and updates, because that would never have happened years ago. If a game was glitchy, it remained that way, so it’s good that games have the support that they do nowadays. As they say "Better late than never".

I wonder why the patch wasn't needed on consoles. It sounds like it was PC only so I guess the 360 version had those issues fixed. It's good to see Ubisoft paying attention to all the platforms though, and listen to their customers on the whole DRM fiasco.
