RARE looking for staff for "Jaw Dropping Project"

Microsoft studio Rare is working on a new ground breaking project for the next generation of Xbox.

The studio has posted up an ad for engineers and programmers for a "jaw-dropping, never-been-done-before project."

One of the ads, spotted by OXM, suggests that As spotted by OXM states:

"Following on from the success of 'Kinect Sports' and its recent sequel 'Kinect Sports: Season Two', Rare is continuing to push the boundaries of the Kinect hardware with our exciting new project. We're looking for an experienced and passionate engineer to join us on this journey.

"This role will involve you working as part of the Cloud Services engineering team in order to develop and deliver Cloud Services for our current and future products. As part of your role, you will be required to work closely with Artists, Designers, Producers and Program Managers.

"As a Principal, you may also be expected to undertake some elements of leadership including mentoring other engineers and helping drive the direction of Cloud Services in our future titles."

There seems to be a lot of mention of cloud based services, with the ad saying those applying should be able to "Deliver cloud services that support gameplay, data sharing and title instrumentation, work closely with design in order to define ambitious cloud services within our upcoming titles," and "Contribute to the long-term cloud services strategy at Rare to ensure we will be able to provide players with the services they expect from future titles."

Another ad for a Gameplay Engineer says that the applicant will be "Working with extremely early prototype hardware co-developed with teams located off-site."

Kinect Sports 3: You play as yourself playing as yourself playing as yourself playing sports. Either way. Rare as we know and love it are long dead.

Maybe another 'genre-defining FPS' or Kinect-based RPG which will 'revolutionise' the gaming universe? They always make bombastic claims about just another game. ;)

Lost all interest when I read the word 'Kinect'.

I'm guessing with Rare wasting all their time with this kinect nonsense that i won't be seeing a new viva pinata game any time soon.

That was the golden age of Rare. Not the same Rare as now. You can even tell by the press release saying 'game such as Kinect Sports' that they are trying to cover up Good Rare. Does anyone know where the chaps from Rare went? Like to which companies? I HEARD some went to Retro and Nintendo but not 100% sure

No one anticipates a new RARE anymore not since Perfect Dark Zero & maybe Nuts&Bolts and we all know how they turned out even though the latter was quite good

I'm just going to be brutal here: people should stop looking for the old RARE. Things have changed - yes, arguably for the worst - but it is what it is. Whether this project is truly jaw-dropping or not, we'll have to wait and see. For now though, I think we should all be grateful that MS is finally getting them to do something other than our avatars and paper pushing.

Rare you poor thing, Those Banjo Kazooie games that microsft tethered you to have finally broken you, we don't want Kinect sports games from you guys, we want perfect dark or a FPS similar to your outstanding work on Goldeneye, and stuff like its Mr Pants, no wait forget the Mr pants thing and show us some of your amazing talent which you have hid away so well the last few years. Thanks Microsoft. Bring it on Rare..... VIVA LA PINATA!!. (also stay away from pinata's, for everyone's sake)

I'd love to see them revive some of their old IPs, like Blast Corps, that was awesome.

Blast Corps needs to come back. But so does Rare. I would love to see Blast Corps on the 3DS
