God of War: Ascension Multiplayer Beta launches for PS Plus next month

##@image@##

Sony has announced that the God of War: Ascension Multiplayer Beta is officially coming to PlayStation Plus on 9th January 2012.

God of War: Ascension multiplayer levels are broken out into two categories - larger maps, which feature big open environments (like Desert of Lost Souls), and more compact Arenas which offer close-quarters combat.

Once the Beta launches, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to check out the Team Favour Rush mode, the God of War twist on Team Deathmatch. Here you'll fight to reach the requisite number of favour points from the Gods, to unlock new customisation options for your Gladiator. A yet-to-be-seen single player version will also be available.

God of War: Ascension is the prequel to the best-selling God of War franchise. After being tricked into killing his wife and child by Ares, Kratos has been sentenced to spend eternity in a titan-sized prison for the living damned as punishment for breaking his blood oath by swearing to avenge the only people he ever loved. Armed with his trusty Blades of Chaos, he must take on mythology's darkest creatures while solving intricate puzzles throughout his merciless quest for freedom and redemption.

God of War: Ascension will be released on 15th March 2013.

This game makes PS3 stand out from the rest. Hope the emphasis on this one is mostly story than the usual gore.

I will never understand the need to tack on crappy multiplayer modes on to purely single player games.

might have a go on it to see. The one good thing about GOW is if you need an afternoon of a game that has no challenge and easy enough to complete. Aside from that the series basically proof that Sony are more than happy to milk a franchise to death.

There are plenty. Assassin's Creed. Call of Duty/Battlefield/Medal of Honour, Halo, Little Big Planet, Uncharted, Fifa/Madden/WWE. Even Mario having two 2D games out felt like overkill. The rest seem to be getting one or sometimes two games out in the space of a year. And a lot of them are feeling really old and lazy and overmilked. I'd like to see all of these rested for a few years until the devs can come out with something fresh and exciting.

Cough cough hates fanboys! You get those type of games on all consoles! Never took to God of War or those type of games no matter the platform. Still not sure how multiplayer will go with this, just hope they doin't make it worse like they did with uncharted 3. Some games do not need multiplayer IMO
