Uk Charts, w/e Dec 16: Black Ops 2 remains top

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is looking like it'll be the number one game this Xmas, thanks to it landing at the top of the charts for a fifth week in a row.

The game's sales have grown 14 per cent week-on-week and despite the heavy discounting, even Hitman Absolution couldn't knock it from its perch.

Elsewhere in this week's charts FIFA 13 manages to grab third spot, while Just Dance 4 and Far Cry 3 make up the top five.

Another Ubisoft game also takes sixth spot in Assassin's Creed III, while Halo 4, NFS: Most Wanted, LEGO Lord of the Rings and WWE 13 make up the top 10.

Here's the UK Top 20 in full for the week ending December 15th:

1. Call of Duty: Black Ops II (Activision)
2. Hitman Absolution (Square Enix)
3. FIFA 13 (EA)
4. Just Dance 4 (Ubisoft)
5. Far Cry 3 (Ubisoft)
6. Assassin's Creed III (Ubisoft)

Ouch... Wii U's last game standing in the top 40 was Nintendoland at 39. Considering that includes bundle sales and NL is bundled with every Deluxe Wii U, which accounts for 90% of all Wii U skus sold I think it's safe to say that the Wii U is doing shockingly badly right now. It'll likely have no chart presence at all next week.

Isn't it funny, last week when there was plenty of good Wii U news you were nowhere to be seen, but now there isn't you are back like the proverbial bad penny spreading your usual doom and gloom, putting your own spin on to unconnected news stories trying desperately to make the Wii U sound bad when it is neither doing badly, or in any way lacking.

I've been checking the past week's worth of news and I'm not seeing any 'good' news on the Wii U front... and I fail to see how significant sales drops each week since launch to the point where the Wii U is all but gone from the charts is anything but "doing badly" :/ Also, the reason I haven't been around in a while is that I have been very ill.

That's just your spin on things, facts are not many exclusive games make the top 40 charts, and most that do swiftly disappear, like Black Ops Declassified, or AC Liberation.

Black Ops Declassified is still in the charts though. This week it sold better than any Wii U game did :)

Further proof that people will buy any old crap rather than anything good.

I blame companies like Game and HMV for overpricing the Wii U games and likely help reduce the average person in buying them. Not every shopper knows about the online sites being cheaper or don't look at their supermarket (I actually saw someone working at Asda who didn't realise that their own stores sold games.)

indeed GAME £55 for Batman AC Assasins Creed ans others. Just remember Sony did hardly had any top 40 games in the 2nd week as neither did the 360. What do you expect with millions of 360 and ps3 out and the Wii U in it's 2nd week people are not going to drop the 360 and ps3 just to buy the Wii U games. Common sense seems to have gone out the window

That's true, but at launch the PS3 sold nearly 200k console in it's first couple of weeks in the UK alone, the Wii U has apparently only managed 65k going into it's third week. Poor software sales are one thing, but when they're coupled with the lowest launch sales for a console in UK history, that's enough reason to think there's something more than mere launch drop off at play here.

Yeah, it's called stock shortage.

Yes it did sell more and that's due to Sony putting the european release day back 4 and half months meaning they could stockpile the PAL machine for Europe, instead of a world wide launch in a matter of weeks like the Wii u. Also PS3 had a lower game console attach rate back in 2007. less than one gamer per console were sold for the Ps3 as many people bought it as a blu-ray player as it was cheaper than a standard blu-ray player. The 360 only managed 45k in the UK in the first week, Nintendo need to sell one game to make a profit in on the Wii U and so far the game attach rate is more than one per console. Also we are in the middle of a recession unlike when the ps3 launched so you can't compare the two fairly anyway.

Delayed in Europe or not, the PS3 still sold a lot more at launch and it had nothing to do with available stock. The Wii U is fully stocked everywhere... it just isn't selling. Also, the 360 had severe supply issues in Europe it's first few months... it's the only console where supply issues are a genuine factor in it's launch from this gen.

The Wii U has not been available everywhere. many high street shops had sold out. Yes it does matter on avalible stock and stock in the right place, Many many people prefer to buy hardware from shops and not the internet as it is eeayer to get a replacment if needed. Of course the Ps3 delay helped it sell better in europe due to across the pond hype, time for sony to stock pile the console. As said also 2007 was not in the middle of a double dip reseson (spelling been drinking) like we are now.

Don't let facts get in the way of kevins Nintendo bashing, he doesn't.
Apparently he was touched by a moustachioed plumber when he was a child, and that's why he has it in for Nintendo.
