New Tomb Raider video shows how Lara survives

Square's released a brand new video showing off the World of Tomb Raider.

In this latest video, we go behind the scenes, exploring the decisions Lara faces as she is forced to survive. This footage concentrates on areas such as the Basecamp System which Lara uses to upgrade her skills and gear, while also showing how she uses her Survival Instinct to explore on the island.

Check out the video below.

Shame they should have killed here of years ago.

Don't think that would have gone down well with about 90% of the gaming population some how... lol

I agree with Crusty J, it's about time to put the series to bed, they already rebooted it recently and it wasn't much better, and I'm not expecting much more than cosmetic improvements in this.

Yeh it's true that they haven't had a good Tomb raider for a while but they shouldn't just kill her off, just leave the series be

The last decent Tomb Raider game was on PS1 IMO rather than trying to revive it just let it die..

I love the direction in which this Tomb Raider game is going, at last it looks like their getting it right for the first time in years. I think it looks amazing and its looking to be the Tomb Raider game that this generation has been craving for, I cant wait for March :)

Sorry Crusty J, I can't agree with that at all. I loved the PS1 Tomb Raider games (well, asides from Chronicles which was pants) but they've aged horribly now. Tomb Raider Anniversary was a fantastic remake of the original which added a lot of new content to it and made it much more fun to play with far better controls. Tomb Raider Underworld was very enjoyable if you gave it a chance too. I honestly can't wait for the new one.

Still just looks like a less pretty Uncharted with an overdose of QTEs to me :/

But us Xbox people didn't get a chance to play uncharted so it's good for us :D

Many xbox people have played it as they don't exclusively own the 360. Agreed Kevin. Yes Tomb raider PA1 have aged badley but even in their day they were better than the rubbish they have turned out since.

I was referring to the majority of people that only own an Xbox, not everybody is well off enough to own more than one gaming system.

you don't need to be well of to own more than one console ;)

And most people like myself don't see the point in owning an Xbox and a PS3

it's called saving up yes even us adults save up you know ;) their is many reasons to own both consoles :D

"us adults"... Im 22, hardly a child, and it's called having bills and more important priorities, not everybody can be super rich like yourself...

Um... I don't think that people who "only own an Xbox" are in the majority actually. Not anymore at least. It's not really worth arguing about though.

Funny because Uncharted is essentially a prettier Tomb Raider with an annoying lead and set pieces that don't work in the story.

Well, Uncharted must have been doing something right if the series it's allegedly copying has now decided to emulate it wholesale :)

I am not super rich, I meant us adults as in not kids, i was not referring to you, as many people associate saving as a kid things to do when in fact many adults do it as well.

i actually hate people like you, yes you hate tomb raider you have made your point your not being forced to buy the game so try shutting up your point has been made many times and people are obviously board of listening to it. you dont like it you dont buy it simple! get over yourself! and i agree with LFC bywater im 24 i have a house and bills i own a 360 and thats it wouldnt go out to buy a ps3 just for certain games cause its pointless!!!

Thankyou kiki :) I couldn't justify buying a PS3 just for a few exclusives even if i did have the cash.

Nothing to get over Kiki just defending my opinion just like you defend yours. If you don't like it fine but I am entitled to do so just as you are. Nothing to hate It's just differing opinions and if you hate then that's your problem not mine.

Kill Nathan Drake and bring back Lara. We need some more strong female leads in games again and less generic (American) action heroes. In al seriousness, I never really bothered with Tomb Raider much. I bought the anniversary collection a few years back and gave up on Legends part way through. Since I'm so hyped for the new one I actually went back to play Legends. Aside from the QTEs (a bane in all games imo) and the dodgy combat it's still a solid game. Maybe I'm comparing to Uncharted which I feel is one of the most overrated series ever. But it feels Uncharted is essentially a glorified version of this with shinier textures and crappier combat. Tomb Raider I felt mixes things up a bit more with puzzles compared to Uncharted's platforming (fun on like one level per game. Like the train at the start of 2.) then go to a big room/area. Hide behind boxes while shooting people. Rinse and repeat for the entire game. But anyways. Is this the big thing Square was saying about 'will change the way you play it.' which is a shame. But considering Square's recent hypes it makes sense that they'll hype nothing.

Uncharted has puzzles though. Plus you're making a lot of presumptions about a game you haven't even played. How do you know what the combat in this new Tomb Raider even plays like exactly?

Agree Rob we do need more strong female roles but it's just Lara been flogged to death so many times we need new Idea's and IP's IMO

At no point in Uncharted was I unsure what to do or had anything that remotely resembled a challenging puzzle. If there was one it would hold your hand through it with Drake's book. And kevin. Kindly point me to where I am presuming things about the new TR? I stated earlier in the same post that I was talking about Legends.
