PS3 sales reach 30 Million across Europe

Sony Europe has just sent us an email confirming that sales of the PlayStation 3 have reached over 30 million units across Europe and the PAL territories as of 17th December 2012.

"This is a major milestone for us and clearly shows just how popular the PlayStation brand and products are within Europe and the PAL territories", said Jim Ryan, President and CEO of SCEE. "We are really pleased with the success of the PS3 system over the last six years, and are committed to continuing our support of the platform with high quality products and titles that are of the caliber that PlayStation fans have come to expect."

Sony also mentions in the press release that it will continue to expand the PS3 platform in the future, so expect to see a lot more support coming it's way over the next few years.

Nice one. Its like 5 million a year if you look at it another way. In related news. 3DS recently took over the PS3 in terms of sales worldwide (I think.) which is even more impressive considering it aint been out half the time of the PS3

The 3DS hasn't come anywhere close to matching PS3 worldwide sales to date. Not even close.
