PS2 ceases production on worldwide basis

Following on from Sony ceasing production of the PlayStation 2 in Japan last week, The Guardian now reports that PlayStation 2 will no longer be sold on a worldwide basis.

The PlayStation 2 sold over 150 million units worldwide, making it the most popular console ever. The PS2 also has a library of over 10,000 games which between them have amassed 1.5 billion software sales.

If you are keen to snap up a PS2 for histories sake then you may want to do so, because retailers will no longer be stocking them.

I think it was being used as a budget console in some poorer parts of the world. I even think EA are still making Fifa for it every year lol
