PSN set for 12 hours of maintenance

The PlayStation Network will be down for around twelve hours of maintenance from Thursday through to Friday.

Maintenance will begin at 4PM on January 17 and run through until 4AM on the January 18.

During this time you'll be unable to access the PlayStation Store, Account Management, Account Registration and Sonyentertainmentnetwork.com, although you'll still be able to play online provided you are signed in before maintenance begins.

There is no indication as to whether there will be any changes when the service comes back online, although this isn't usually the case.

Well, at least they had the good sense not to schedule it for Wednesday this time.

They always pick the worst times for maintenance, should be done over night and while the kids are at school. Guess it's not so bad if you can get your'e PS3 turned on before 4.

I was planning to start my PS3 copy of Anarchy Reigns today but I guess that's not happening now eh. Thanks for the heads up

I agree. Most people don't get in from work till after 4pm, same with the school kids as well.

I predict a mass rage from the COD fans once again as they don't understand why they cannot play their shooting game online. I worked at a game store once and actually saw people returning their COD games as broken due to the online being on maintenance.

Stuff like Netflix should still be OK though shouldn't it?

That has got to be the worst time frame, It would make much more sense to have it running over night so it would effect a lot less people.

The downtime is a non-issue really. It happens. At least I can forward plan for it. I would however like a changelog though, just so we can see what's going on with the upgrading/patching etc Not that I think anything serious is happening, but compared to live and it's sever LACK of downtime, PSN seems to have maintenance very frequently

Please describe the nature of the abuse:
