New 128gb iPad announced by Apple

Apple has announced that it's to release a new 128GB model of its latest iPad on February 5 in the US.

The 128GB version of the iPad 4 will of course include a Retina Display and will be available in black or white for 799 Dollars with wi-fi or 929 Dollars for the 4G model.

The above information relates to the US release. There is no mention of a UK and European release at this time, although given Apple usually releases products worldwide, we wouldn't be surprised to see the 128 GB version arrive in Europe soon.

Almost $1000?!?! Surely even apple can see that they are going to price themselves out of the market that they created? I honestly do not understand the requirement for this much space on a tablet. I do think they are jumping the shark a little with this. And that extortionate price point doesn't help. Next Ipad- Size: 500Gb cost: 1.5 kidneys and a lung!

Yeah that size is a bit overkill i have the 16GB one and thats fine for me if it gets too full i can just sync it up and remove some stuff and add it back on again. I know you were joking about the kidney and lungs but im sure a someone in china sold a kidney to buy the ipad 2 i think it was.

The fact that it will be out of date within 9 months doesn't make it the best investment.

They will bring this out, then smash out a another within a year. People who would spend this amount on an Ipad really do have more money than sense. £500 ish for it in the UK would be like 2 1/2 weeks of work for me. Nowhere near worth it.

I wish people would stop for a second and actually look at the social and environmental side of Apple's policy of constant (and unnecessary) product release and mass production. This is a company identified by Greenpeace as one of the "least green" companies in 2011 (and denied to comment on the report). Everyone knows by now what's going on in the Foxconn factories. I'm not saying that people should abandon Apple products, heck, I have an iPad mini because that product satisfies my needs in a tablet. But people shouldn't so blindly fall into every new marketing scheme and worship Apple for something it's not. This is yet another product that will somehow be desired and sold - nevermind the fact that you don't need 100 movies or all your music collection on your iPad. It's probably a failed attempt at pushing people to replace their laptops with tablet, which I don't see happening with iOS.

Good point, there's probably landfills full of obsolete tech due to Apples practice of bringing out new versions all the time.

if your job requires that you need an ipad with a lot of memory (lets say a film editor) then yeah ok but for everything else it seems pointless, im happy enough with my vita thank you.

Wow. That's crazy. I was pretty pissed off with having to pay an extra £80 just to go from 16GB to 32GB. Pretty lame.

Almost a grand? Seriously, people need to sort out their priorities. The only reason they set the price that high is because they know people will mindlessly buy it.

You have got to be kidding Apple?! you cannot create a product with such an extortionate price! Only the rich who have more money than sense would buy this ..... not one person i know has turned to me and said 'Gee Ste, i could really do with over 100gb of hardrive on a tablet that limits what i do and what apps i can download, while i pay about, i dont know .... $1000 and then hardly use it anyway' .... it just doesnt make sense?! every year they bring something new out. JUST STOP! relax for a while ..... Microsoft and Sony create consoles that have a 10 year life span before they bring out a new console! i understand that apple is a really good hi-tech company .... but for what you are actually getting, you could buy something like a kindle fire HD and save yourself a fortune......... if you cannot live without expensive tech then buy it, but until you can prove to me that you have spent that money wisely, i have to believe that it is money wasted.

I've used my girlfriend's iPad - and it's really only used for web access, e-books and some music! Although she's beginning to add a few games - GTA Vice City was the latest. The price points are ridiculous, though. It's not a device which can do everything the best, the price should reflect that, not lead the tech market!

Ridiculously overpriced. There are plenty of other tablets out there do do just as good job if not better and are alot cheaper.

Please describe the nature of the abuse:
