New Killzone Mercenary details arrive along with release date and trailer

Sony has at last revealed details of Killzone Mercenary for PlayStation Vita.

It's fair to say first of all that the game looks absolutely incredible on Sony's handheld and so it should given that it's powered by the stunning Killzone 3 engine.

New information reveals that this latest game in the series starts just after the ending of the original Killzone, and revisits many of the events from the Killzone trilogy. The game puts you in charge of a mercenary named Arran Danner who will be with you all throughout
all nine of the single-player missions, each of which are nearly an hour in length.

Completed missions also unlock additional replay challenges, with a host of special objectives to accomplish, while the game also boasts a full-fledged multiplayer mode with six maps tailored for eight players and three different game types, including the popular Warzone mode.

Sony has also revealed that every action in Killzone: Mercenary is rewarded. The better you perform, the higher your payout and not just in the single-player campaign, but also in the multiplayer mode. The wages you collect are deposited into a single bank account, so the money you earn in the campaign missions can also be used to buy gear and weapons for multiplayer matches, and vice versa.

Killzone: Mercenary uses the dual-stick FPS control scheme but also makes use of touch controls for actions such as brutal melee, and with tilt controls for accurate sniper aiming.

Killzone: Mercenary is scheduled for release on 18th September 2013. We can't wait.

The gyro aiming is used in conjunction with the analogue sticks, not as a replacement for them, in order to allow for quick fine tuning of your aim. The same feature was used in Uncharted and it was very well received.

I am suddenly very, VERY glad I own a Vita! This looks superb. I can scarcely believe these are handheld graphics. If it plays half as well as it looks, Sony are onto a winner here. Just a shame we have to wait until September for it.

This game looks amazing! So long as I can adjust the sensitivity, I like the idea of sniping and fine aiming with movement. Now I need to go get the Killzone Trilogy so I can remind myself of the first game before this hits! Finally, a game that has me genuinely excited for the Vita

Any News on killzone for ps3?

There are already 2 Killzone games on PS3 (3 if you inlude the HD remake of the first) I wouldn't bet on another full system release until the next gen.

Looks pretty good, a few more games of this quality and I might be able to overlook the stupidly overpriced memory cards and pick up a Vita.

Stealth in a Killzone game? I thought everyone just stood in a choke point, threw a ton of grenades and got picked off (like a comedy sketch). ;)

Please describe the nature of the abuse:
