Latest Charts, w/e Feb 3: Ni No Kuni takes number one spot

Namco is celebrating this week as its Japanese RPG, Ni No Kuni has taken number one spot in this week's charts. The stunning Level 5 / Studio Ghibli collaboration has certainly grabbed the imagination of gamers around the UK, helping it to outsell FIFA 13 and all the other usual suspects.

Elsewhere in this week's charts only the Hitman Trilogy helps shake things up, thanks to its arrival in fifth place. Otherwise it's pretty much business as usual.

I think the number one spot is going to change so much in the next 2 months with so many big games coming out.

God damn... would not have seen that coming in a million years. I thought if NNK charted in would have made the 30s at best, but if it's straight to the top in the UK, then it must be tearing up the rest of Europe nicely. Good to see it doing so well after the lousy reception it got in Japan.

I'm really considering bringing my PS3 out of my retirement to play this. It's just been used as a blu-ray player in the last three years, with me only using my 360 to game on. However, as RPG's are my favourite genre, and J-RPG's my even favourititist at that, I'm definately thinking about it. I've heard it's not turn based, but live action combat? Can anyone confirm? I'm currently playing Tales of Vesperia, so I'm assuming the combat is similar to this?

Good to see it at number one, even though i won't have the chance to play it being an Xbox gamer, I think like most other games though the usual 2 will just fill into the top 2 spots again sadly.

Glad to see it take top spot, in spite of certain supermarkets not stocking it. Inclined to agree with LFC Bywater though, won't be long before FIFA and CoD sit at the top spots again :(

It will be no 1 till Dead Space crawls all over it like some needy Xenomorph.

Bout time something decent got in. Although now that I think about it a lot of the big JRPGs have done well for their first week. (I believe Last Story got number 1) It certainly puts shame to the places like Game who decided to only stock very little of it as they had deemed it too 'obscure' to sell well. (they also didn't stock Last Story I think.) Maybe this is a change for the UK charts! Decent games can start and get a change in there........wait...*looks at number 24* nevermind

there is a good point there! look at the top 2 every year fifa and call of duty and these original intellectual properties dont get anywhere near even assassins creed 3 struggled to gain control over those 2. this is why we havent had ristar 2,area 52 or anything like that

hope dead space 3 will shake things up as well , when it comes out this week , i hope it does well even though its more action this time like resi 6 but look what happened there

resi 6 was good i liked it and sure that ds3 will shake things up i wanna see fifa fall main reason due to it ruining the market it seems it takes too many sales off other games like this look at hitman great game but why is it not above fifa for more than 1 week it deserved more sales
LFC Bywater's avatar
Why would you want to see it fall? it doesn't take other games space, Football fans are going to buy Fifa solely for the purpose that it is a Football game. I doubt it will ever fall, unfortunately that's just something that you are going to have to live with.
