Ubisoft to release Wii U exclusive demo for Rayman Legends

##@image@##

As we all know by now, Ubisoft has delayed the Wii U version of Rayman Legends until September so that it may launch alongside the other, recently announced, versions of the game. This new obviously didn't go down well will Wii U fans at all, so what is Ubisoft doing to make up for this? Why it's releasing a demo exclusive to Wii U.

"We understand your frustration and that you want to get your hands on the game," said the publisher, via Facebook. "We are working with the development team to provide you with a new, exclusive demo for the Wii U soon. Stay tuned for more."

Rayman Legends is now due in September alongside the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U versions.

as glad as i am to see this coming to the 360 since it was meant to be a wii u exclusive i think this is only fair to be honest

It may be due to the lack of sales/pre-orders which been forecasted for the Wii U version. I don't know it's just what I think, but than again it's nice to see the game become a multi-platform

Rubbish, loads of people had it on order.
But now most of those orders have been cancelled.

I think being able to get their hands on a demo is a tiny sweetner, but they should be playing a full game, not a demo. It hardly makes up for it either, they should get some free WiiU exclusive DLC or something.

This is just rubbing salt in the wound, people don't want a demo when the game is finished and being deliberately delayed.

It's better than nothing right? They still get to enjoy a piece of the puzzle before the actual game releases, which would also prepare them for when the game releases

No, it's not, it's an insult.
I won't be playing their demo, and I certainly won't be buying their game, or any of their other games either.

I dont know why they think a demo is going to smooth things over probably just makes things worse as it will show that the game is pretty much ready to ship. Will be interesting to see there sale figures for the Wii U when it eventually comes out and see how many sales they lost.

A lot, it's going to be a real flop now, they had a perfect time to release now with no competition on the Wii U, but it'll be a different story come September, all versions will have stiff competition, and the game will sink without trace.

Yeah you could be right it doesnt bother me that its not Wii U exclusive as that just makes business sense to sell it on as many platforms as possible its the fact there delaying the finished Wii U version to coincide with the other releases.

Please don't also forget Metal gear solid ground zeroes that is supposed to be release towards the end of 2013. Also Beyond two souls, Darks souls 2, GTA V, The last of us etc etc.

This is all good and all but if the Wii U want to increase their sales they are going to need to think bigger than an exclusive demo of a franchise that has lost alot of popularity over the years, hearing that Rayman legends is coming out for Xbox will not help Wii U gain popularity that much. Still always nice to have an exclusive treat on your own console :)

Well the full game was due for release at the end of the month, but then Ubisoft decided to screw Nintendo over.

Was never really fussed about rayman on the wii u to be honest, it makes sense to release it on other consoles but it does seem bloody stupid not to release one when its ready.

I don't think developers deliberately delay a game because they feel like it. It's either because they found bugs or gliches within the game which they want to address before releasing, hence causing the release date being pushed further back. The developers wouldn't want fans to think bad of the game due to minor little bugs which is why they want the game to be perfect.

The game is ready they are delaying it to release it with the 360 and ps3 version that is being released in September.

Ubisoft would fix bugs in a game before they release it?

That would be a first.

@Bindiana, you may be correct, I was only taking a guess as to why it is being delayed. It may be due to the fact the developers reckon they will be able to get more sales if they release it together.

It could easily have less sales if Wonderful 101 or Bayonetta 2 come out around the same time or Nintendo release a big Mario game Rayman will have less sales. Six months is a long time to sit on a finished product.

@Gloria, Lol I see where you are coming from, I remember the huge patch they did for Far Cry 3 which was ridiculous. A game shouldn't be released if it contains that many bugs. I always been experiencing bugs when you view the map on Far Cry 3. I always get black lines appeaing across the screen. I'm not sure whether they have patched this yet or not.

I've stuck with Mario games for my platforming/open world-type adventures, never really delved in the Rayman series. To say this release is beginning to be more messed up by the week is an understatement!

The last time Rayman was actually classed as a good game was back when Rayman 2 was released I believe.

Thats not really true is it. I think Rayman Origins was universally praised.

have to agree leaving this till september when gta arrives its going to get left behind in the hype of that , should of at least came out in the summer when there is hardly any games out
Barada's avatar
Strictly business, but you do wonder how they ever make any money? Sitting on a ready-to-launch title for seven months seems financial suicide - especially the rate at which this technology moves at!

I am not so sure. Origins kind of did really well by word of mouth so I think this will as well. I think its a dumb move to shelf a finished product when its ready to come out. The Wii U features would make it pretty different to the other versions as well so cant see the point.

Many Wii U gamers would like as many fresh titles as possible - me included. With a lack of any real alternatives on the system, this type of game would've done well at this point. I think they're mad to withhold it. ;)
