It's no surprise to see black ops 2 on here, we obviously got a FPS fan within the reviewers

Far Cry 3 up for best story? Um, OK - I guess the standards are falling in creating believable characters and situations. Far Cry 3 is typical gung-ho nonsense, where a seemingly good-time guy becomes a skilled assassin in a few short days! The bad guy is a pantomine-evil sideshow at best - worse than Hollywood churn out!

Vaas is a brilliant bad guy. Made that game. Jason Brody is a meh main character mind. It's a good story, but the boss fights ruined the game for me.

Didn't know there were 'Boss fights'? Spend a lot of time wandering around - think I've only tackled about 6-7 actual missions! Sometimes I do like open-world, but you can easily lose hours in it! ;)

Vaas made this game what it is, the main character was just rubbish to me. I also agree the boss fights were very unusual, it didn't have that intense feeling to it.

I liked the story of FC3, as others have said Vaas was an awesome bad guy and goes into the all time top 10 games villians list with ease. The boss fights were a little strange but **SPOILERS** I like the way it makes you question how much of this is actually happening like from the instance Jason first drinks the potion in the temple, is any of the game 'real' from that point?

Those parts are just flack outs IMO. The part that annoys me is ****SPOILERS**** when Vaas stabs you, you suddenly appear in dream world and kill him. Yeah, sure. Then you are surrounded at the end by a trained killer, and you have a knife fight. If you're aboutt o stab him, you'd be popped in the head. But no, you're allowed to rampage on everyone. It's just foolish if the entire game is 'is it real' considering the endings aswell.

Farcry 3 was great, but the story was fairly weak. it was great because of the landscape, and Vaas. Pretty surprising nomination.

Good to see Journey, Dear Esther and Unfinished Swan in there (and XCom up for a couple). Didn't there used to be one category which was voted for by the public?

'The Walking Dead' and 'Journey' are both great games. And I'm happy to see them both up there, I reckon Walking Dead may pick up 'Best Soundtrack' and maybe even best story while I think Journey might get 'Game Design' and maybe 'Best game' itself. Here are all my predictions: Best Action - Game innovation - Fez Artistic achievement - Halo 4 Best mobile/handheld game - The Walking Dead Best Audio - Halo 4 Best multiplayer - Assassins Creed 3 Best game of 2013 - Either Fifa 13 or Dishonoured Original music - The Walking Dead or Journey British game of 2013 - Forza Horizon Performer - Adrian Hough (Haytham) Assassin’s Creed III Debut game of 2013 - The room Sports/fitness game of 2013 - Fifa 13 or Trials Evolution Games for family - Minecraft: Xbox 360 edition Best story - The Walking Dead Game Design - Dishonoured Best strategy - XCOM enemy unknown Yes I did leave some out as I had no opinion for them but that is my list of games I reckon will win at the Bafta's :)

Sorry for it being hard to read, I had it paragraphed out and stuff but I forgot they all just get put into 1 paragraph anyway :/

Minecraft Xbox 360 should be up for Game Design. XCOM for strategy, do they really make them like this anymore? Not sure about Fez, as by Xbox standards, they couldn't get their latest patch online, in effect, they don't have a finished product - shame.

Great to see Walking Dead up for numerous awards, it is honestly the most refreshing engaging game I have played in years and made me actually care about the fate of the characters in the game which is very rare for me.
iPenny's avatar
Totally agree with you right there, the story was very engaging and the ending of each episode always got me hyped up for the next. Tell tale definitely did a good job on that game and should hopefully recieve some awards for a well laid out game :)

Not a single nomination for Ni No Kuni........ Another absolute shambles of a games award ceremony.

likely Ni No Kuni is too new to be eligible.

Some good games deserving of the nominations up there, but some dodgy choices for sure.

BO2 is a great game, but its not innovative.

Farcry 3 was class, but the story wasn't strong.

i think dishonoured winning would be good for the industry, new ip and a new idea. one not to win would be fifa its the same every single year
DynamiteWhyte's avatar
Do you play it? FIFA is the best Sports game out. NBA 2k13 is up there with it. The rest need to fight to get near them.

As a hardcore fan of the NFL - I cannot pick even pick Madden over NBA2K12 (haven't got the latest '13). The best overall sports game I've played in years. The game IS the NBA! ;)

Love Madden but i do prefer fifa, It isn't the same every year, They do make slight changes. If it aint broke don't fix it.

I love Madden too, but it just isn't there on FIFA or NBA 2k13 imo. If you got someone to go play FIFA 09, and then play FIFA 10,11,12,13 they'd notice massive changes to just better jigging up over time. And it's only good for the game that.

all fantastic games in the own right, different people have different tastes. I think Far cry 3 is an excellent with great visuals a real engrossing story line. i agree on the comments above regarding Borderlands 2, although it is a good game it lacts innovation. i am a keen FPS player but find that the COD Franchise has kinda of gone the distance and lacks new ideas in my eyes and i prefer to play more realistic tactical shooters like Battlefield 3. my annoying game of the year award has to go to Assassins Creed III, this was a really stunning game with good visuals and great gameplay mechanics which have progressed on from the last title. But the ending has runined the whole reason why you played through the franchise and was a big dissapointment in my eyes. Not sure if anyone else feels similar. At lest we can look forward to the next years worth of games :)

The Online Multiplayer list makes for dire reading. I don't quite understand why Halo 4 soundtrack wasn't given a nomination in the original music list? It's ear porn. Mass Effect 3 for GOTY
DynamiteWhyte's avatar
Sadly, no matter how great ME3 is, the amount of moaning about its ending will scupper any GOTY chances.

no i dont play fifa but its the same year after year after year there is no fun in that i don't see what they do differently other than teams in different leagues i like original games and that's why dishonoured stands out as a new ip same with call of duty it's the same with new maps and assassin creed
DynamiteWhyte's avatar
I don't think you should comment on it then. If you don't play it, don't playa hate.

i think walking dead and far cry 3 are deserving winners they were my games of the year and dishonored was good as a new ip , also thought x com did a very good job of remaking it , a bit unsure about black ops 2 though nothing ground breaking about that all the same to me , i thought ni no should have got a mention how well it has done and sold , also agree some of the sleeper tiltles like dragons dogma would have got a mention aswell such a good game
