Bungie confirm 'Destiny' reveal set for February 17

Bungie has issued a statement via its website to confirm that it will officially be revealing its new game Destiny on February 17.

"So, our game is called Destiny," starts the note on the website.

"In a matter of days, we're going to give you your first glimpse into the vision and ambition that's driving the creation of our brave new world. To make room for the resulting chatter, we've launched some official social media channels. There's a new Destiny page to like on Facebook, a new Destiny feed to follow on Twitter, and a new Destiny page on Google+. And, of course, we've opened a new Destiny forum here on Bungie.net where you can discuss upcoming news.

"Bungie.net and our existing Bungie social channels will remain official sources for news about Destiny, Bungie, and anything else that might tickle our fancy. If you've already registered on our forums, liked our Facebook page, and been treating yourself to our sweet Tweets, you're ready for anything."

According to a rumoured contract leaked in the past, the new game will be timed exclusive to the next Xbox for around a year, at which point it'll then appear on the next PlayStation and PC. Further games in the series will then release at the same time.

So, are you ready for Destiny?

Good call on the WH40K look. Must've taken a good few minutes to sketch the concept out! ;)

I'm a little wary of this game after the rumours that it'll either be an MMO or Halo-as-microtransaction-pez-dispenser... Hell, could even be both, and neither is a very appealling prospect. Oh well, guess we'll know for sure soon. Can't help but wonder about the timing and proximity of this reveal to the PS4 announcement also...

Aslong as it is as good as the original Halo's that bungie created i will be happy :) can see them announcing this just a few days before the Playstation announcement as a ploy to defer attention from it, Doubt it will be successful though.

Why would they want to do anything to take away from the reveal of a console they're going to be developing for, and most likely even releasing Destiny on at that? Don't see what they'd gain from it at all. However, if they were to use the PS4 announcement as a hype springboard by announcing a PS4 version was coming (We already know a version is heading to Xbox 3) then Bungie will ensure that Destiny is pretty much the ONLY next gen game anyone is going to be focusing on for the foreseeable future.

I'm always humoured by attempts to gain publicity, pictures that bare no relevance to the game in action, media sites asking to be liked when no-one outside the dev team even knows what they're meant to be liking! Baa! Baa! It's an insult to sheep..
