The Last of Us Delayed until June

Sony and Naughty Dog have announced that The Last of Us has been delayed until June 14.

Speaking on the PS Blog, Naughty Dog's Creative director, Neil Druckmann, put the delay down to the game's immense scope.

"In many ways it may be Naughty Dog's most ambitious project to date - a brand new universe and cast of characters, brand new tech, brand new genre, and not to mention it's easily the longest campaign Naughty Dog has ever made," he wrote.

"As we entered the final phase of development for The Last of Us, we came to realise just how massive Joel and Ellie's journey is. But instead of cutting corners or compromising our vision, we came to the tough decision that the game deserved a few extra weeks to ensure every detail of The Last of Us was up to Naughty Dog's internal high standards."

thats fair enough, working on it till its 100% on the go rather than "we'll release it and fix it later", other companies should take note of this.

Longest campaign ND has done? That couldn't of been hard

but naughty dog and rockstars games have no bugs that is what served them so well for so long i can only think of santa monica, visceral, capcom and suda 51 who do the same

lol what? Capcom? Resi 6 had a game breaking bug on launch. Uncharted 3 had quite a few bugs. And RDR had a lot of bugs. Don't even get me started on how broken half the God of War games are. Especially when it comes down to terrain detection.

In GTA: IV, you can theoretically get 'stuck' in the subway system; on a few occasions (while in the subway tunnels) the upper ground level and underground become one huge area, all the solid areas disappear and you end up in a wall-less transparent environment (like something from the matrix - although it's a visual bug as the walls are still technically 'solid', so you have to manoeuvre yourself back out and hope you're going in the right direction - back in the station, game refills the graphics back in place - no bugs?

"the longest campaign ND has done"??? Interesting statement. But if I remember right, the Uncharted games were not particularly long. I generally don't listen to devs and publishers when they start quoting campaign length. I listen to actual players! Shame it's been delayed, I'm guessing the news that GTA4 shifting to September meant they could relax a little and polish the game. Let's hope it actually comes out polished, plenty of delayed games still came out broken after all **cough** Aliens **cough**

Delaying a Game is never a bad thing it builds up more Anticipation on its release, and this game looks good so delaying it may work out to its benefit

Tell that to Rayman Legends fans! :)

i feel this isnt bad for this game especially though as naughty dog are reliable. never had a bug in gow but i know there was one rumoured towards the end of the second game but i never met it. resi 6 you are right with but generally they are pretty good. unchartered and rdr were not game breakers and id say more tweaks

Don't mind if its delayed, shows that naughty dog really want to make this game the best they possibly can which is convincing me even more to buy the game. I can clearly see this winning a game of the year award

Oh dear, they've had to completely develop a game from scratch - new universe, characters and tech? Um, that's what most of us want in game, isn't it? Not the same retreaded, tire formulaic nonsense on each release! Sometimes the quotes from these developers are like they're doing us all a favour!

Least they chose a sensible slot to delay it till, there won't be much competition for sales in June, unlike if they'd chosen to delay it till, let's say, September.

Awww...another game I've got preordered that's been delayed :( Still, I'd rather it be fine tuned to perfection rather than rush-released. I've got confidence in Naughty Dog either way, I've been waiting for a new game from them ever since I completed Uncharted 3.

had a feeling this would happen , but do not mind as i know naughty dog always make there games as good as it can be before they release them , bit glad seeing how many good games are due before then my wallet can take a breath

i am happy to wait due to the developer now if it was ea or activision i would be grumpy due to the fact that both of their games always seem released with oodles of bugs

You'd be grumpy with EA/Activision for delaying a game to fix it because they release it with oodles of bugs?

Loads of my mates are proper into this game, and they can't wait for it! However, as a PS3 exclusive ill be passing. Im adamant my PS3 stays as a blu-ray player and that only!

I take it you bought it when blu-ray players were ££££££ and not lately?
