Criterion: Need for Speed on Wii U is best version

Need for Speed: Most Wanted arrives on Wii U and according to Criterion it's the best version yet.

A new video shows the developer talking about the Wii U version and explaining that since it is based on the PC version it looks better and plays better than both PS3 and Xbox 360.

Criterion's Alex Ward also goes on to talk about more-detailed assets, increased draw distance and improved lighting, as well as a brand new game mode which has been designed with Wii U in mind.

Here's the video.

its good to see that they have taken the time to make use of the wii u's additional power and tweak it from the other two consoles releases. wii u fans havent had an easy ride so far but finally this is something to cheer about

Good to hear them admit the Wii U can handle anything, even more than the rival PS3 and Xbox. Um, not quite convinced about them talking like Wii U owners might not have played a 3-D driving game before! Tries to change mindset (of many observers) with the first statement (about the Wii U being a decent bit of kit) then assumes shortly afterwards, the machine userbase might not be well-versed in certain genres! But maybe the developers are realising not all gamers are necessarily into all genres to begin with? Give people a chance to like them first, without the need for relentlessly difficult learning curves for newbies? This still looks very good..

I won't be bothering with this, didn't like it on 360, but it's nice to know some developers are making an effort with the Wii U without being shackled by their publisher,

It's nice to see developers squeezing out the extra power the wii u is capable of. Good job Criterion

We've heard this before as I recall... but regardless, the fact that the Wii U controller doesn't have analogue triggers pretty much precludes any chance of this being the "best" version. Slightly improved textures aren't going to mean much to actual gameplay after all.

This is a bit of a non story for me ALL games that are developed for 360, PS3 and Wii U should be the best looking have the best framerates etc as it is the more powerful console, if the game isn't best on Wii U then developers are not doing their jobs properly and just rushing out ports

Or perhaps the Wii U just... isn't as "powerful" as has been suggested? It's not out of the question.

@kevin Like you're ever going to notice how 'powerful' it is while playing a game on it. You can scan stat sheets and nonsense all you like, see games on it and it feels pretty damn good! They've even got Black Ops II strutting its love/hate thing with Wii U'ers!

Yes, but you're most definitely going to notice when the head of Nintendo America is straight up lying to consumers when he makes claims that multiplatform games look "dramatically better" on their console when they don't... and even makes claims about ports of old games being entirely new games (When he was talking about Batman on Wii U).

Advertising and marketing always plays with the 'truth' - it never surprises me what these bods come out and say. Just assume everything is a lie until proven otherwise! ;)

Maybe it might scrape "average" then, as lets face it, it was pretty poor on the 360.

EA did not enhance the PC version of Dead Space 3 because they said they wanted it to be the same for all. I guess EA are making the Wii U version better as if it is the same then it would not sell well if people had bought other versions first, so it now goes against their DS3 principle of making the game the same for all, which now shows that EA were lazy / cutting costs with the DS3 PC version.
