PlayStation Evolution goes portable

Sony has released the latest video in its Evolution of PlayStation series, this time focusing on portable gaming.

There is two more days to go before the event now, so will Sony post one more video tomorrow and if so what will it be?

We'll see, in the meantime though, here's the video.

i dunno if they will do another one to be honest, maybe a big teaser trailer? or maybe just let our minds run wild for the last 2 days.

Really would have expected them to devote a bit more time to the PSP for this (Though I note they avoided showing that hideous big first design version of it lol) and show some of the big visual showcases it had like Dissidia, Kingdom Hearts, Crisis Core et al rather than just 3rd Birthday and Patapon.

Next will be Vita. Although I wonder if Sony will try to forget the PSP Go existed (didn't watch the video to be honest.) Everyone else seems to. Actually didn't Sony claim that was the future of gaming at one point? PSP was a mixed bag for me. It had some great games like Tactics Ogre, Breath of Fire 3, Tales of, Star Ocean, Final Fantasy...actually come to think of it the really good games were all ports. It had a handful of others like Dissida and Kingdom Hearts. Half Minute Hero was REALLY good. Would love to play that again but refuse to pay the extortion prices on PSN for it. Aside from the Vita and first X-Box it was probably my least used console however. At one point however I just went out and was buying tons of great games for about £3 a game or so New. From HMV/Game of all places. Kinda sad seeing these at £8 on the PSN if I wanna play them on the Vita. No idea what happened to the console itself. I lost it for like 3 years after buying, didn't miss it. Found it. Then found the battery to be abysmal for playing RPGs. No idea where it is again. I miss playing Half Minute Hero and some of the others. But not enough to buy a new one or pay premium for them again XD

Vita and PSP were both covered in this video. And why would they need to worry about the PSP Go seperately exactly? It was just another PSP SKU. And no, they never claimed "it was the future of gaming" at any point, they said digital distribution was the future of gaming... which it is.

Great build up to the 20th but i can see it being a flop and too overhyped.

Oh? And how is a hardware presentation likely to 'flop'?

Perhaps not the best idea to concentrate on the Vita so much considering how badly it's doing, the PSP has been their success in the handheld market and should have been the star of that one.

Isn't that a bit like saying they should've stuck with the PS2 promotion rather than bother pushing PS3?

These videos aren't about sales targets though. Just because the Vita isn't selling to expectations doesn't mean they're not going to highlight the fact that it is still a peerless console in it's field, with it's competition being a generation behind in terms of power, features and capability.

Hmm seemed like an okay video, hoping that all goes well and isn't a huge disappointment though...

You can tell sony are really proud of everything they do. You dont see Microsoft or Nintendo pulling stunts like this. Sure Microsoft may be the jock that gets all the girls at the moment but Sony is the nerd that grows up and becomes a legend.
