Respawn Entertainment attending E3

At last Respawn Entertainment are attending this year's E3 and they may have something to show off.

The studio, whose former Infinity Ward owners were involved in a lengthy dispute with Activision, have been slowly working on a new game, along with a lot of former Infinity Ward staff. Considering that this team was practically responsible for the revival of the Call of Duty series, we are expecting something good, although it hasn't given much away so far.

We do know that whatever the studio does create will be published by EA and will no doubt be released on next generation consoles and PC.

The news of the studios attendance comes via Twitter, where boss Vince Zampella said he'd been asked a few questions about his E3 attendance, before revealing that he would be there and that "he won't be turning up empty handed."

If they were intelligent they'd do a FPS-Single player game to begin with, with obvious ability to go online. If they trump Battlefield and COD with a superb single player experience, and start off with a good online campaign, they can build on it.

hope its not going to be a FPS! i think the talent they have they could do so much more!

Considering their pedigree, I don't mind if it's an FPS, but I would hope for something groundbreaking. Another dev making cookie-cutter FPS games is not required

No point having people who excel in something trying to become something else. It could be prodding a round toy into a triangled hole.

They're hardly going to have them making a JRPG or something really, are they?

They really should stick with what they know, remember when Bizarre and Critereon tried doing something different we ended up with The Club and Black, which whilst not awful weren't great either.

it will make sense for them to do a fps game, cannot see them doing anything different. electricians dont try to be plumbers so stick with what you are good at.

I think this could be a Destiny competitor instead of a CoD killer, that way they would look like they have taken the high-road over Acti

Good chance they may make a space shooter actually. So it could end up going against destiny.

For some reason I don't think it will be a FPS i'm thinking it will be a TPS

It's likely to be an FPS because Respawn Entertainment is a small new developer with a 'lot of former Infinity Ward staff'. Best to stick with what you know you're good at instead of trying something new.

This will be very interesting and a lot can be accredited to Respawn for the revival of the Call of Duty series. If it wasnt for them we wouldnt have Black Ops 2 which in my opinion is a fantastic game. Now waiting for this DLC and Maps on the PS3 come on Activision!

Hmm... seems a given at this point that next gen Call of Duty is going to be shown off for the new Xbox first at E3, so I wonder if EA will be planning a spoiler tactic by having Respawn show their new title off on PS4 first at E3 the same day. There's certainly enough bad blood across the board there for me to believe they'd do it.

Maybe EA have given them Medal of Honor to work on, I know they said they were giving the series a rest, but that could have just been misdirection.

Considering half of Infinity Ward worked on Medal of Honour: Allied Assault before they formed IW, that would be an awesome circle around!

That certainly is an IP that needs to die. The original PS3 and XBox 360 one wasnt bad, but the latest one looks, feels and sounds like pure and utter rubbish!

I doubt it. Knowing EA they'd probably get these guys to make another FPS that could compete with COD. You just can't go wrong with more FPSes these days, especially when its coming from the guys who made COD.

"lets just hope whatever they have planned is something great", EA over the past 4 years have really got their games spot on.

I agree there are a lot of good EA games but they expect an immediate return. Look at franchises by EA which have been ditched but were very good. Dantes Inferno, maybe Dead Space now, Bulletstorm, maybe Crysis. Its all about the sales and the only thing that reaches there target is Fifa and Battlefield.

My first ever platinum Dante's Inferno. Was a good game but their creativity disappeared when it got further down the spine of the game.

The problem with Dantesque Inferno was that EA Redwood clearly ran out of ideas half way through. Plus the awful marketing campaign, it was a guaranteed flop. It had so much potential too. Big fan of the source material

i hope that you are wrong beazi and they dont ditch dead space. i have enjoyed all 3 of them and would be a shame to see it go.

If anyone can make a COD killer, its these guys, because they are the ones who made COD.

Same here Rachael but I do remember reading something about meeting 5 million sales! Very few games reach that I question if Black Ops2 has! I was worried about this third one but it's very well written. Also still not at Tau Volantis yet and it's good that the game still pays homage to its previous two games in that way. I would love the fourth one set in a war ravaged earth with necros mating with crocodiles, tigers etc to make some evil beasts!

Black Ops 2 sold over 7m in its first month.

Dead Space 3 was a very weak entry in the series, your given creative freedom to build your own weapons which is nice, it's just a shame the necromorphs were not more varied to give you a challenge, also the overall narrative was weak. I think by introducing a universal ammo system the game has been made too easy. I might try the other modes but I play games for story as much for challenge and DS3 is just boring compared to the previous installments. But back on the original topic I'm not a big FPS fan, but I'm hoping Respawn can do something a bit different with there new IP. MOH should be laid to rest, for a good few years at least. The last two installments were very poor.

Whatever it is, I'm excited to see the Zampela and West back on the main stage. Very much looking forward to what they have to say.
