Proof Denny said that GT6 is coming to PS3

It's been rumoured that Gran Turismo 6 has been coming to PS3 all weekend, after Sony's Michael Denny was quoted in an article from Silicon Republic saying that this was the case.

To be honest we thought this may be some sort of typo, however after looking into this further we have managed to find a recording of said interview and it's quite clear that Denny did state that GT6 is coming to PS3.

So why would GT6 be coming to PS3 and not PS4? Well for one, Sony has already announced a new driving game for PS4 in the shape of Drive Club. Would it really want to compete with it's own game at launch? Also, think about how huge the PS3 install base is. At over 75 million consoles sold worldwide, does it not make sense to release GT6 on the current console?

No announcement has been made yet of course, however we'd expect Sony to announce that Gran Turismo 6 is on its way at E3 and we only expect it to arrive on PS3. We are sure the PS4 will get its turn in the future.

To be fair, PS3 has only had 1 GT game (2 if you prologue) not surprising that they want another on this console.

I have gone off Gran Turismo quite a bit. I prefered the speed and style of Need for Speed Shift 2 more, even though GT has always had better graphics.

Similar for me. I like arcade racers a lot more than driving simulators like GT. But I can definitely appreciate the care they put into these games to make them realistic.

Well this would make sense because there have been 2 GTs on every Sony console. So having GT5 and GT6 on PS3 would follow that trend. Plus it would hold true to Sony's commitment to giving PS3 a 10 year lifecycle.

How many GTs was there on the PS3? There was GT5. Shopto is advertising the Academy Edition. And was there a Prologue Edition? So 3. I believe the PS2 had GT 3, 4, Prologue Edition and....A-Spec? (I can't honestly remember.) so seems about the same. But no doubt we'll see this come out for both. Or out for PS3 and Vita for cross-play

Academy edition is just GT5 with the DLC included I believe. I wouldn't count on either a Vita or PS4 version of GT6 if it's coming to PS3 either.

3, 4, Prologue & Tokyo Geneva 2002 with the silly solar cars that never took off as they had a top speed of 10mph although in game they went a bit faster

surprised that this is going to be coming to ps3. as one of the main racers i would have thought they would have kept it back and released it as a launch title for the ps4.

im sure this will probably be one of the last big games to hit the ps3, sad that i say that, seems like we are coming to an end of an era.

Makes sense. Polyphony spent years developing the current engine on PS3 and it's only seen one mainline title in the series come out of it. That plus the fact the PS3 has a userbase of 80 million vs an absolute best case scenario of 1 million PS4 owners by year end and Gran Turismo being Sony's most successful IP by far means this was inevitable... I guess they're counting on Drive Club to fill that gap at launch for the PS4 instead.
