Rambo gets Rocky

UK video game publisher Reef Entertainment have today announced that Rambo the Video Game will feature the original movie voice-tracks of John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) and Col. Samuel Trautman (Richard Crenna).

This is a bit of a scoop for the title and will no doubt help add to the authenticity of the overall experience.

A Reef spokesperson said: "Our goal is to produce the finest Rambo video game ever made. To do that, we are including dialogue, special effects, and music from the movies.?StudioCanal, the owners of the Rambo films, searched their extensive archives and tracked down audio reels containing the original voice recording tapes for First Blood, First Blood Part II & Rambo III. These tapes provided us with the pristine vocal performances of Stallone and Crenna that we have included in the game."

Rambo The Video Game will see players in relive the iconic action-sequences and story-arcs of all three movies.?

It'll be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 later this year.

I want this to be so good... but its likely to be so poor. I really hope it turns out to be a solid action game, and the original voices will help

Yeah i was thinking that as well movie tie ins are rarely good unfortunately.

prison break the game had the original voices but the game was awful and sadly i believe that to be the same with this game as well. licensed games are usually there to get money from die hard fans of the franchise.

The finest Rambo video game ever made?
I hope they've set their targets higher than that, the best one so far was just a Commando rip off on the Spectrum.
Datastatic's avatar
Although it was a rip off it was still great and multi format too. I remember it having awesome music and bits with helicopters that were very hard.

There was also Rambo 3 for Megadrive which was a bit suckdog.

Personally I preferred the official version of Commando over the Rambo game, mainly because of the Rob Hubbard soundtrack, Who Dares Wins by Alligata was pretty good too.

Will we finally see a good Movie to film game? i hope so but i'm not banking on it.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for this. This game being good is very unlikely. Movie licensed games are known to be notoriously bad. Just look at all the superhero movie games...Iron Man "shivers"

lol yeh true... The only movie game i thought was quite good was the Wolverine origins one.

did you ever play spiderman 2, that game was awesome. other than that maybe toy story 2 and LOTR the two towers. can anyone think of any others?

Never played spiderman, yeh the LOTR games were not too bad, apart from the first one which i struggled to enjoy.

I actually remember playing Spiderman 2 with my mates. Man we would stay up all night to beat the game. Good times. And Goldeneye....yeah. But in my defense I will say there are a lot, I mean a LOT more bad movie licensed games than good. I think another good one though I remember was Transformers War For Cybertron. Pretty awesome game that.

Big fan of the Die Hard trilogy on the PS1 as well. 3 games for the price of one, at least 2 of them good.

Pirates of the Caribbean is a really good licensed game although it was developed under the name Sea Dogs 2

so there you have it, ten movie games out of 100000 that are good......sad

I highly recommend picking up Pirates of the Caribbean(Sea Dogs 2) if you have a decent power PC since with all the mods that are out it makes the game amazing. (Hell I would even send you my copy it's that good)

lol you need to construct a manly PC build by hand. That's what I did a while back. It still plays all the latest stuff at high level at the very least. Plus it cost me about £500 to build which in retail cost close to £1000. Crazy.

unknown - i have been thinking of doing that but the money thing is an issue right now, im saving for a trip to san deigo so it'll be a while before i make my own frankenstein. bywater - yeah its sad cause some could have been great, like unknown said, ironman, that could have been amazing, its tailor made for games yet it sucked.

The Amazing Spiderman? i thought it was better than the film. Rango, fair enough its a kids game but it was well made. Afro Samurai??? top game does technically have a movie

It does have so much opportunity this game but... First thing that worries me is the price! If this is what shopto have set fair enough but if it's the RRP that's worrying!

Rambo the video game..... what could possibly go wrong?
Beazi's avatar
Beazi 4 years ago
Well it could have a great chance of being the next Unchartered but we know things don't pan out like that and will probably end up being more Kane & Lynch lol

I think it will be more like Grey's Anatomy: The Video Game.

In the first Rambo game he only ever kills 2 people - I'm not sure a Rambo video game would follow the same tactic...

If the developers had sense they would build this like Unchartered and Tomb Raider. If they do that they stand a chance!

tomb raider looks great and i could see rambo doing well if it went for this. i can see it being a rubbish first person shooter tho to be honest.

Same here! Tomb Raider looks awesome I honestly didn't think it needed a facelift I do after all enjoy the PS2 ones although I wasn't keen on Underworld! However I think I am gong to be very pleasantly suprised when it turns up! Have you got it coming too Rachael?

It does look like the best reboot ever! Though should say that DMC holds that light until then. Resident Evil should never have changed just improved its graphics! I will post a thorough review next weekend of what I think :)

Anyone remember the first Rambo game on the NES? What a nightmare it was. Even AVGN made a video on that. I hope this isn't like that.

I don't tot to be honest. But now intrigued so may have to download the ISO from Freeroms.com! Off topic the subject Joe has given this topic is intriguing... So here's a question, one off boxing ring battle who would win Rambo or Rocky? No weapons allowed!
Loli-Nox-Tan's avatar
Old Age would win hands down

If they can get this right then this has the makings of a truly awesome video game. Stallone adding his voice will be great and a nice touch although we won't know what is been said :)

Problem with movie tie ins is they try too hard to replicate what can be done on screen, which might sound odd loses the plot of the game. As the story has already been told it goes on a bit of a tangent halfway through. This can be aimed at Disney games too!

yes i agree. maybe wee should have more games that are spin offs of the films. like lored of the rings war in the north
Beazi's avatar
Beazi 4 years ago
Spin offs like that Rachael are trying to do something different whereas movie tie ins follow the movie script almost word to word or try to squeeze in the gap between two movies like the Aliens game that recently came out
Anonymous user's avatar
Rachael 4 years ago
spin offs are much better in my opinion. word for word games are boring, apart from lego lord of the tings, that was brilliant.

Agree! There's so many they made a mess of. Although secretly I would love an ET and Jurrasic Park current gen game. Guess Turok is close
