Thief screens appear alongside Game Informer reveal

A whole batch of screens for Thief 4 have hit the internet ahead of the game's 'Game Informer' reveal, thankfully though Game Informer saw sense and posted its article soon after.

Rather than being known as Thief 4, the game will drop the number and simply be known as 'Thief'.

In this latest addition to the series, hero Garrett returns to the Gothic, industrial metropolis known simply as the City to steal any and everything that will make him richer. Unfortunately, the is ravaged by plague and lorded over by a political tyrant known as the Baron. This means that Garret has to be on his highest form of alert in order to survive.

Square Enix plans to release Thief for PS4, PC, and other next-gen platforms sometime in 2014.

More information on the game will be released via Game Informer throughout the month.

Check out the first screens below.

Thief was the first ever PC game I owned. I didn't really get in to it but it was good. Will keep a close eye on this on PS4.

The internet reckon it looks like Dishonored.

It does a bit. But that's not a bad thing.

It does, but in another way, I always thought Dishonoured looked a little like Thief! Tink of it. A stealthy dishonoured-sequence game. From the makers of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. You name me a better sounding concept, I dare you! Well excited. PS4 pre-order incoming

It looks like Dishonoured because Dishonoured was inspired by the original Thief games. I think it even had some of the original developers of Thief working on it (Dishonoured).

Thief was always one of my favourite games. It coming to PS4 is a great move by Eidos. Very very excited. It's these kind of announcements that get me excited for next gen.

I've been waiting to step back into Garrett's shoes for years, The best stealth game of it's time by a country mile, Whether it was using water arrows to put out torches or coshing guards, This franchise was one of the best PC exclusives money could buy. I just hope they stay true to it's roots, Using stealth, Stealing loot from the rich & being dark.
