Unreal Engine launched for PS4

Epic Games has announced that its Unreal Engine 4 is now available for the PlayStation 4.

According to a company statement it is "providing the resources PlayStation 4 developers need to harness the full power of its Unreal Engine 4 technology and realize all facets of their creativity using Epic's revolutionary new toolset now and in the future."

This was probably inevitable news really, however Epic CEO Tim Sweeney still seemed pretty excited about it.

"Being on the ground floor of Sony Computer Entertainment's Tools and Middleware program is part of our long-term commitment to Unreal Engine 4 developers, and we're excited to help teams ship fantastic new games for PlayStation 4. Unreal Engine 4 has been built from the ground up to take full advantage of high-end next-generation hardware capabilities."

What do you think of this news?

I like the look of unreal 4, so long as it comes with two things. Is as moddable as 3 is, because a lot of devs make Unreal do things they want to do with it by modding. And second, Epic keep supporting it. Apart from a couple of exceptions (bulletstorm, an Epic/PCF game) Unreal 3 just looks rterrible now. and it's due to a lack of support from epic later down the line. Even gears3/judgement still looks like gears 1 and 2, there is no real impreovement in graphics quality over the years using this engine

I really hope they do a better job with this engine than they did with UE3, which was a veritable scourge on much of this console generation.

Please describe the nature of the abuse:
