Sony Santa Monica deny Last Guardian involvement

Sony's Santa Monica studio has denied that its helping out on the troubled title that is The Last Guardian.

Speaking in an interview with Eurogamer, Tim Moss, Director of Technology at the studio said the team has never helped out in any way.

"I'm never really sure how that got in the press, because as far as I'm aware we're not helping out with The Last Guardian," he said. "The only way you can say that is the knowledge that we contribute back to the central tech groups benefits The Last Guardian. So I'm guessing someone was slightly misquoted."

Shuhei Yoshida, president of SCE Worldwide Studios said a while back that tech and engineers from the UK and US were helping out on the title, however Moss explained what he feels Yoshida perhaps meant by this.

"The different Sony first-party teams do not necessarily actively work together, but we do communicate with each other," he explained.

"We tend to visit each other several times a year, and doing so we may exchange ideas. They've been here, and we've been there. We do ask each other how are you doing that, and just sometimes go over to provide feedback."

The Last Guardian is still in limbo at this moment in time. It was originally in development for PS3, however it's possible that Sony may shift focus to its next console. We hope to hear more soon, because if it's anywhere near as good as ICO or Shadow of the Colossus then we are already sold.

Not great news this. Seems everybody bar the big wigs at Sony are distancing themselves as best as they can from this project.

It's a real shame. But this game is looking more and more like vapourware as the years go on. I would love to see TLG, even if it isn't until the PS4, but it's always looking less likely with every report I read. You can also change TLG for Agent, and the same applies. Oh well

They really should pop it on the PS4 instead now. The PS3 looked as though it was struggling in the last footage we saw. Plus it would really help the PS4 sell.
