Rock Band DLC ends with American Pie

Harmonix will release Don McLean's American Pie as the last ever track for the Rock Band library, on April 2.

The developer has been releasing DLC every week for the past 275 weeks, equating to more than 4,000 tracks now being available.

It'll certainly mark the end of an era not seeing the tracks appear in the weekly PlayStation Store update, but all good things must come to an end.

Are you still playing Rock Band? Let us know.

Still play when the boys are over, glad it's coming to an end though; was getting really tired of all the new Add on releases being rock band tracks

I still play occasionally too, really enjoy a bit of Rock Band now and again, shame Activision killed the genre by milking it to death.

I stopped playing when I got rid of my xbox. I wouldn't mind getting it again though. Not much better than banging out a bit of Disturbed after a hard day at work!

Last one I played was Guitar Hero 3 that I got off a mate for about £20. Sadly, I wasn't great at it. Some songs on Medium were my height I'd say. But then again, smashing out a Poison track on it was just quality.

Guitar Hero 3 is still the pinnacle of guitar game track lists though. It was an amazing set list

Guitar Hero 3 was the best game of the franchise and had the hardest song of all time; Slow Ride by Foghat

3 did have the best track list, but I didn't like it, the battles really annoyed me.

I grew up with guns n roses. I wasn't happy until I beat the Slash battle on hard! I felt like a god that day!

the final battle was the hardest song in GH3... Rock Band three was the best, had the easiest interface and all other "Band" titles could be transferred to it. i had rock band 1, 2, 3, Lego, green-day, AC/DC, band hero all available to play through RB3 something like 500 songs in total... Good Memories! Where does everybody live we should rent a room and have a really shit rock band / game playing and drinking evening!

I can just imagine us being like the very bad Big Bang Theory rockband that was made. Bagsy vocals.

But with my editing skills, it'll look like a really good one!

We'll all get copys of the video only to realise that TM looks like Justin Timberlake while we all look like Lance Bass.

That would require James Cameron film levels of editing

I just checked out the track list for Guitar Hero 3, some pretty decent songs on there. I may have to pick this game up sometime.

I still get the plastic guitar out sometimes, though Blitz gave my massive library of around 700 songs for RB a new lease of life when that came out. Its a fitting song for them to go out on. An impressive achievement. Well done Harmonix.
