Battlefield 4 officially announced, first trailer released

EA has at last officially announced Battlefield 4 by releasing the first trailer, a whopping 17 minutes worth.

As you can see from the video below, it's all looking very pretty, even if it does seem to be offering much the same as previous games. The PR is very positive though stating that "only in Battlefield can you demolish the buildings shielding your enemy. Only in Battlefield will you lead an assault from the back of a gun boat. Battlefield grants you the freedom to do more and be more while playing to your strengths and carving your own path to victory."

Not too many details are known as yet, however we do know that players will be able to work together in both the Campaign and Multiplayer. We also know that the game has been officially announced for PS3, PC and Xbox 360. A PS4 version was also confirmed as being released to Polygon, although it doesn't mention this in the press release.

Check it out the video below.

Watched the video, and it's certainly impressive. The problem is, it looks just as impressive as the BF3 Fault Line gameplay did. Too many on rails, unskippable gameplay sections that you're not actually playing and way too much in game advertising! Seriously, did that guy in the building near the beginning really need FIVE american flags on his kit? I don't like saying negative stuff about Battlefield. I've been playing it for more than 10 years, but this is getting bloody stupid. This won't be a day one buy unless I can get an Elite/Premium/Non-gimped version from the outset!
