God of War: Ascension patch 1.3 now live


Sony has released the latest 1.03 update for God of War: Ascension, which brings with it an added support line for the Trial of Archimedes, and enhanced multiplayer customisation with a new appearance feature for your Champion.

"We received extensive feedback from the community that the "Trial of Archimedes" section (Chapter 28) near the end of the game was excessively challenging, says Sony on the PS Blog. "In every God of War game, establishing a well-paced difficulty ramp towards the end of the game is paramount to us.

"Based on player response, the degree of challenge offered here was short of our goal of being perfectly balanced."

There are a few other changes too, for instance in the 1.03 update, at the end of each elevator stage (3 total), players will now receive a measured amount of Green Health Orbs and a nominal amount of Blue Magic Orbs back. This change affects all difficulty levels.

All I read was, we have decided to not grow a spine and give in to our whiny fan base who want to get spoon fed to the ending of games.

Spineless gits! The trophy name change was bad enough, but a few lazy spoiled gits complain that a section is too hard and the difficulty gets dumbed down. Pathetic!

They didn't dumb down the part they decreased the time on in one of the Collection Editions, why do it for this? It's not for the faint hearted GOW...

Even if it's nigh on impossible. There are plenty of games with stupid hard difficulties. Completing them gets you a certain level of respect (see Elite Difficulty on Killzone 2) but dumbing it down is just SSM scared that people will give up and trade in! It's ridiculous! When did gamers become sch spoon fed pussies?

I never finished Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the MegaDrive 2, the last couple of missions were just to freaking hard. I have even gone back to it since it was an XBLA title with save points... Still too god damn difficult.

Seriously? That wasn't even the hardest part of the game when I was playing it. Should have just thrown in an "extra easy" difficulty that spawns a treasure chest to make Kratos invincible and capable of one hit kills if you die more than a couple of times in the same place. I get the impression that's the sort of satisfaction destroying handholding needed from some modern gamers who can't handle anything resembling an actual challenge.

I miss when games used to be so absolutely difficult on Normal that if you died too often they berated you and offered you Easy mode. Like Onimusha 2, when Easy mode also removed cutscenes too

OH COME ON. The game wasn't even difficult to start with. The game's an 18 for Christ Sake. If people are finding it too difficult they can go find something easier and holds their hand more. Like Kirby's Epic Yarn. Although then again some parts of that are pretty damn difficult if you wanna complete it 100%.
