Evening Newsround - April 8

It's been a fairly quiet day in terms of gaming news, however there are a few stories we have missed which perhaps didn't deserve a full story to themselves. So here they are.

Skyrim patched on Xbox 360 and PS3

Bethesda has released a new patch for Skyrim, adding in new Legendary features and a long list of bug-fixes. I'm not going to list the whole list of fixes here because there are far too many, however if you're interested you can see them here.

OUYA responds to negative comments

We previously reported that OUYA was hit with a lot of negative comments from reviewers for its new console. Well the developer has responded to these, stating that it'll all be ok for launch.

"We will be making Ouya review units available in early to mid-May so that you are able to review the more complete consumer experience and prepare your coverage in time for the June 4th retail launch." the company told GamesIndustry.

"To clarify for you - Ouya has sent no review units out to press. Any reviews you have seen online are a result from individuals who received early backer units from supporting our Kickstarter."

Evolution Studios played "instrumental" role in the DualShock 4 design

Evolution's technical director Scott Kirkland has told EDGE that the company as instrumental when it came to designing the PS4 Dualshock controller.

Speaking to the magazine, Kirkland revealed the team managed to convince Sony Japan to add in specific gyro componments that may otherwise have been missing.

"We were instrumental in securing the specific gyro components that [will] go in the DualShock 4, we had prototypes that demonstrated that the really high frequency gyros were the ones that allowed us to chuck the controller around like a steering wheel, and the ones that they were considering [meant] you have to rely on accelerometers to compensate for that.

"So we put a very compelling case forward to the guys in Japan, they listened and they're the components that are in the DualShock 4."

Apparently the studios also did a lot of work to improve the controller's analogue sticks too by creating a prototype using MotorStorm RC, allowing players to exploit the reduced deadzone size on the controller and provide more accurate sticks.

Kirkland also reminisced a bit, saying of the early Dualshock 4 prototype, "It was very industrial in design, plastic - there were things that would come off. I remember seeing paperwork for the import and export prototype, and you know all of them were handmade and insanely expensive and we felt privileged to be getting these samples."

Microsoft sells IPTV Business, now focusing on Cloud for Xbox

Microsoft has sold its IPTV service, Mediaroom, to Ericsson and is now planning to focus on cloud services for Xbox.

"With the sale of Mediaroom, Microsoft is dedicating all TV resources to Xbox in a continued mission to make it the premium entertainment service that delivers all the games and entertainment consumers want - whether on a console, phone, PC or tablet," Microsoft exec Yusuf Mehdi announced on the company blog.

"It is not a mission that we can achieve alone. We want to partner with the industry to deliver the next wave of innovation in games and consumer entertainment. We will partner with content creators, studios, labels, networks, content aggregators, operators and distributors to make this happen."

Bug fixes, gonna take a lot of bug fixes to sort out that game.

yeah i stuck it on again the other day to see if i could finally finish the last two achievements that bugged on me one was fixed but the other still isn't..
