Evening NewsRound - April 10: PS4, Bioshock, Monster Hunter

It's been a reasonable busy day in terms of news, with the usual Wednesday stories of the PS Store update and the Japanese charts sandwiched in between. There's not really been any major stories, but that's this time of year for you. Although at least Mac owners finally get a date for SimCity, which is good news, yeah?

Anyway, as usual we have posted below any stories which we may have missed, or that may just not have deserved their own article. Feel free to comment on these as usual and if there are any stories you feel are worth a mention then you can always link to them in the comments section.

Sony doesn't just want FPS games for PS4 says Yoshida

Sony worldwide studios president Shuhei Yoshida has said the reason that Knack was shown first during the PS4 reveal event was because the hardware giant doesn't just want FPS games on its new console.

In an interview with Edge, Yoshida revealed that "It was pretty intentional," to show off Mark Cerny's Knack first. "Mark's idea was like 'what about [a] Crash Bandicoot for PS4?' when he suggested the concept of Knack. We were like yeah we hate to see all the PS4 games being FPS or action-adventure or very photorealistic, you know big-budget blockbuster games.

"And you know people like these games but these are not the only kinds of games that people can have fun with."

Yoshida said PS4 also points out in the interview that the PS4 will provide a very social experience and this is why Sony chose to focus on this aspect.

"Almost the biggest message that we wanted to send in preparing for the event as well as in designing PS4 was we at Sony and we at Sony Computer Entertainment, it's just natural for us to enhance the core technology and performance of the hardware, but it's not the hardware that is the biggest focus.

"When you look at the five key principles behind designing PS4, none of them are hardware related, actually. It's all about how people us and experience, enjoy games, realized by the system software features and network functions."

First Bioshock Infinite DLC spotted in Steam registry

Apparently the first DLC for Bioshock Infinite has been spotted in the Steam registry. As reported by DSOGaming, the site claims that one of its readers found reference to the DLC, along with information that it will include 10 achievements.

No title or indeed any other information was mentioned. Hence why this is a NewsRound story.

Irrational previously announced that it will be releasing three DLC add-on's for the game, something which was mentioned by news surrounding the season pass. These DLC's will add new story-lines, weapons and more.

Monster Hunter Wii U to be updated on Wii U

Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate's Wii U version will be updated with a new patch on April 16.

The update adds the ability to play on the Gamepad, while also allowing for online multiplayer with those in the U.S.

In addition to the above, Nintendo has also apologised for the lack of stock when it comes to the Wii U version.

"I'd like to apologise for the current stock shortage due to high demand of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate at retail," Shibata wrote on the official Nintendo UK Twitter account. "New MH3U stock will hopefully be available in shops next week for Wii U and mid-April for Nintendo 3DS."

Shibata then went on to promote the digital version, saying that it's the fastest way to get hold of a copy in the meantime (yeah and the most expensive way too Mr Shibata).

That's about it for today, unless of course there is some breaking news, at which point I'll be typing faster than you can blink.

Can we add some news that was missed out too? Splinter Cell is now coming for the Wii U. Disney's Planes is coming for DS, 3DS, Wii and Wii U, as is Cross-Code for the Wii U More rumours for the next X-Box in that much like the PS4 it won't be backwards compatible. I'm sure like Sony they'll be working on ways to resell you the content you already own however. Muramusa Demon Blade has been confirmed to come to the West. Although this is probably means America will get it while UK will get it as a PSN title. June 25th. Wii version was amazing and well worth picking up.

Shenmue 3?! I can't wait! The first one was a trillion times better than the second one, but it was still brilliant. I can't believe I never find anybody that's heard of it!

Never played Shenmue 2 but I played Shenmue 1 for over 15 Hours (Still don't know why I stopped) & I want a HD collection for them to judge if Shenmue 3 would be worth it

I'd buy it just for the name. It was so slick. The new Batman games remind me of it with how smooth the fighting was. To wait this long between 2 and 3 tells me that they aint just cashing in on the name.... But that's mainly because it isn't really a 'name' to cash in on. But to decide to go with a 3 and not let the series die is brilliant.
