Evening NewsRound - Friday, April 12: Soul Sacrifice demo, Eden Games closed

It's Friday, which generally means a lack of news and plenty of celebrating as we head towards the weekend and two days of quality gaming time.

We've managed to catch a bit of news today, most of which has been trailers of some sort. Hopefully the big news will start to trickle in soon though, we are getting closer to E3 after all and we reckon MS will probably have something to tell us before then.

In the meantime we have loads of reviews coming up and a few previews too. Oh and there may be a new game announce soon (although we couldn't possibly say).

So let's round up the news that we've missed.

Soul Sacrifice Demo announced

You may have guessed that the code we previewed recently was in fact a demo. Well the good news is that you'll be able to test out the demo yourself from Friday, April 17.... surprise.

We recommend that you do test this game out, because it's pretty ace and will no doubt leave you with a taste for more.

Black Ops 2 Double XP Weekend

Activision is hosting a Double XP Weekend for Black Ops 2 starting now and running through until Monday, April 15 at 10.00am PST. The Double XP weekend is for all formats, including Wii U, so no matter where you are playing, you won't miss out.

Eden Games has closed

Alone in the Dark And Test Drive Unlimited studio, Eden Games, has closed. Eurogamer claims that local authorities put the Lyon-based development outfit into liquidation back in January. Last year the publisher denied reports that it had shut the studio.

Good luck to all those affected.

That's about it really. Friday's are generally quiet when it comes to gaming news, so we haven't missed too much. We'll bring you a weekend Newsround on Sunday if there is anything to write about. But until then, enjoy the weekend.

Alone in the Dark looked amazing back on the Gameboy Colour and PS1. But....didn't really care for it since. Sucks they're going tho. Can I add stuff? Cloudberry Kingdom is apparently coming via Ubisoft this summer. Wii U. Didn't see mention of the other two but I'd imagine so. And apparently Namco Bandai said they might very well port Ni No Kuni to the 3DS if fan interest is high enough. The PS3 one that is. Not the DS one. Can't see it happening. And probably would cut out quite a bit.

Cloudberry Kingdom is multiplatform, just had an email from Ubisoft about it and it had the Xbox and PS3 logos as well as Wii U. Looks interesting, making some pretty unbelievable claims though, the most hardcore 2D platformer ever with infinite levels, don't see it living up to both claims. Not that I'll be playing it, not unless I can get a free download.

Ha, so you were teasing me about there being a SS demo coming Joe? Thanks for the heads up... just hope it retains the transferrable save data to the main game the JP demo had. Surprised to hear Eden were even still open up to now... didn't they sack most of their staff ages ago? Shame. the Alone in the Dark reboot was bad initially, but it was actually okay by the time the updated "Inferno" version came out. Still had the worst inventory system this side of Witcher 2 though.

I'm not surprised to see Eden Games shut down there parent company Infogrames has givin' up on console development ages ago which makes pretty much unneeded. I wouldn't be surprised to see Infogrames themselves shut down in the end.

I thought Infogrames was part of the last incarnation of Atari, which kicked the bucket a while back.
