Sony's Michael Denny says company has learned from launch of PS3, says PS4 will reflect this

Sony's Michael Denny has said experience will play a factor in Sony's pricing for the PlayStation 4.

Speaking in an interview with Edge, Denny said that the company had learned a lot from it's PS3 launch and will use this to its advantage.

"We've got lots of information yet to give out on PlayStation 4," he said when quizzed on pricing, before continuing, "I guess the first thing to say is that we listen and learn and take the judgement from every console launch we ever have and we have to be informed by what the strengths of our PlayStation 3 system have been, but also the challenges of that.

"We want a system that can reach as broad a gaming audience as possible but whilst being a system that's deep, connected, rich and immersive and is going to give a very focused and differentiated experience than anything else that's out there."

Sony revealed PS4 in February and it is expected to launch in some regions of the world beginning late 2013.

Everything about the PS4 announcement said the exact same thing. Sony going at this iteration all guns blazing. Well excited!

Sony are learning from their mistakes, I wish more companies did that, although Sony are probably the only major one to actually be punished by the consumers for mistakes.

ps4 looking like the top next gen so far, but i think microsoft are just biding their time letting sony have their moment why they prepare to pounce! should be interesting to see what MS come up with cause its got to be amazing to beat what sony have so far come up with!

If MS announce another Acti partnership and CoD they have a couple of million units sold regardless of other 'features'

You'd hope a company would learn SOMETHING from one of the most disastrous console launches ever really. In the long run, from the perspective of a gamer right now at least, Sony's failure at the start of this gen will ultimately be looked at as the best thing that could have happened to them at that point in time. I dread to think what the PS4 would have ended as if Ken Kutaragi was still in charge.

I wonder why Microsoft haven't announced anything yet? They delayed their own conference to the late of May, few weeks before E3. This is strange at least...

Sony have such a degree of arrogance about them I reckon....what surprised me was that actually how interested in the PS4 I am and it wasnt the live announcement as I thought that was just a rushed job in order to beat microsoft for the big reveal and despite the fact that much or some of what was shown was mere "this is what we would like the ps4 to do" its the fact that theyre aiming the console more at gamers and that platformer they showed looked great, the PS3 launch was an over priced over hyped joke so although im excited about this I will tread most carefully after getting my fingers slighly burned with the PS2 and PS3 in the past ! )

I think it is more Sony 'had' such a degree of arrogance. They can't afford to have the arrogance that they once had after the mistakes in getting hacked and the bad console launch. They seem to be rectifying it and will hopefully come out the better for it.

It would be nice to think Sony have learnt from their mistakes but only time will tell if they have. But I like what I have seen and heard about the PS4 so far.

I still expect the PS4 launch to be 4 or 5 months later in Europe than the US or Japan.
