Xbox 'One Million' points campaign hits Japan

Microsoft is trying to entice gamers in Japan to play Xbox 360, by giving away points for game time.

It's new 'One Million Hours Campaign' will reward all Xbox Live members - free and gold subscribers -with Microsoft Points for playing Xbox 360 between April 20 and June 19.

According to Siliconera, all Japan needs to do is spend 300,000 hours on Xbox 360 during that time and Xbox Live gold members will get 100 MSP and Xbox Live free members 10 MSP. If Japan reaches 500,000 hours of cumulative playtime then Gold members net 200 MSP and free members 20 MSP. If Japan makes it to a million hours, Microsoft Japan will give 400 MSP to gold members and 30 MSP to free members.

Interestingly you also have to be playing one of the following games:

Battlefield 3
Forza Motorsport 4
Forza Horizon
Halo 4
Dance Central 2
Gears of War Judgment
Crysis 3
Far Cry 3
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
Bioshock Infinite
Borderlands 2
Tomb Raider
Resident Evil: Revelations
Resident Evil 6
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge
Dodonpachi: Saidaioujou
Child of Eden
Monster Hunter Frontier G or Monster Hunter Frontier

Finally, only consoles which are connected will obviously be included in the totals.

What do you think? Will Japan bite?

Tomb Raider, Monster Hunter, Dodonpachi and Caladrius is only 3 games I could see Japanese ppl wanna play, but really doubt Microsoft will get the Japanese market, because they lack exclusive RPG

Aye, make them bite by offering them something worth having, like Gold for 12 months for the free users and some good stuff for the Gold users.

Monster Hunter, Dodonpachi, Ninja Gaiden, Resident Evil and possibly Tomb Raider are the only ones with any following in Japan. Dunno if it'll work or not. It's been a pretty much dead console for the past few years there. Don't even know why they put the figures there anymore since apparently both the Gamecube and PS2 are still outselling the 360 XD

To be fair, the Gamecube is a better console than the 360

It would be quite sad if they dont reach a million hours in 2 months. I would of thought a million hours in the country could be done in about 2 days.
