MS Job Ad backs up previous 'X86' rumours

A new recruitment ad from Microsoft seems to back up one of the rumoured details for the next Xbox, namely that it will include X86 architecture.?

The ad for an Xbox software development engineer at Microsoft, spotted by OXM - asks for experience with the x86 architecture, marking it as 'desirable'.?

It's interesting to note that if?X86 architecture was to be included it would appear that this would make backwards compatibility less likely.?Also, with Microsoft said to be giving the next Xbox a more windows-based focus, it would make complete sense to use a PC style processor, would it not?

What do you think? How does this stack up?

Sounds feasible. The chip that does the gaming in the PS4 will be x86 too, means that porting to both AND PC will be easier. makes sense.

iirc one of the earlier rumors said that both will use AMD APU-s, seems like MS went custom made APU, but it makes sense to stay on the same architecture.

I just feel more and more that the next xbox is going to be a multimedia based console, but as I have a man room where I play games what need have I for a console that does all this tv and music rubbish... I may be a minority though. I'll still get it mind you

I guess porting will be easier but now makes me wonder what will differentiate the PS4 and NextBox under the hood specs.

Kinda funny topic. Surely Microsoft has too little "XBOX software development engineers" to expect that at least one of them have experience in "x86 architecture". LOL

One of the more interesting rumours I read recently was that Django Unchained (Durango) will have backwards compatibility via the 360 being SoC (system on chip). Which would be good considering how many 360 titles I have :)

Please describe the nature of the abuse:
