Nordic Games snap up Darksiders, Red Faction and more in THQ final auction

It's been revealed that Nordic Games was the highest bidder for Darksiders, MX vs ATV and Red Faction in the final THQ auction.

Nordic Games is the Austrian parent company of JoWood, DreamCatcher and The Adventure Company, whose titles include the likes of best known for Arcania, Painkiller and Spellforce. In addition, other owned software and licences such as Destroy all Humans!, Summoner, Marvel Super Hero Squad, Supreme Commander and quite a few more titles were also snapped up by the company.

"We are very happy about this deal which also turns over a new leaf for the entire Nordic Games Group. In the long term, we either want to cooperate with the original creators or best possible developers in order to work on sequels or additional content for these titles," CEO Lars Wingefors said in a statement.

"A very important point for us is not to dash into several self-financed multi-million dollar projects right away, but rather to continue our in-depth analysis of all titles and carefully selecting different financing models for developing new instalments of acquired IPs."

We aren't sure what this means for the future of any of these titles, however we are pleased to see that game's such as Darksiders still have some hope for the future.

As a huge fan I really hope that Darksiders is in good hands. I believe that if they decide to make a sequel (and there is no reason they won't, after all that's why they bought the IP) it will be out in at least 2 years. I just hope that it will be in a similar style with the first two games.

Nordic cleaned up man! Nice work. Hopefully it means good things for some of those franchises. I'm a little surprised that Crytek (was it crytek that got the Vigil staff?) didn't bid. I'd be really interested to see prices and bid amounts if they're made public

It's a bit like when Koch picked up Saints row, You won't have heard of Koch, but Deep Silver you will have. Nordic own Dreamcatcher, who published PCF's Painkiller. They haven't done anything big in a while I don't think

im really praying for a great darksiders sequal! and in all honesty i want another red faction but for it to be like guerilla not the last 1 which was poor in comparison! i think its in good hands they wouldnt buy all those IPs without a serious game plan and im looking forward to hearing what they have in store

What I meant was, I was curious to see if Crytek bid, and how much they lost by. Sorry,
