New GTA V details appear

Previews for Rockstar's GTA V have just this minute went live, providing us with a whole new burst of information.

As you know, for the first time in the series, there will be three main characters, the twist is though that each of them feature their own unique ability.

According to Videogamer, Michael can slow down time while engaged in a gunfight, while Franklin, the repo man, can slow time while driving. Finally Trevor, can deal extra damage and take less damage when injured on a time limited basis.

Elsewhere, you'll be able to switch between all three characters more or less at will, which is handy as switching between characters during free-roam functions as a fast travel mechanic. Another reason this is good is because the entire map is open to explore from the very beginning of the game - a map which is five times the size of Red Dead Redemptions'.

Other features include the return of San Andreas' skill system, Vice City's property acquisition, while new odd jobs, sports and mini-games - such as base jumping, off-road racing, hunting and ATM robberies have also been added.

As you'd expect, you'll also gain access to player, vehicle and weapon customisation options as well as the ability to upgrade vehicles and of course, your character's hair, clothes, tattoos, etc.

Finally, there has also been tweaks to character animation, gameplay and combat.

Unfortunately we were not invited to get a hands on with the newest build, however you can check out some of the previews here:

Is it just me that gets more annoyed with the bigger maps? I don't want to take 5 years to get from one side of the map to the other. Unless they have big arenas like a large golf course, large theme park things.

I like big maps but the problem with the entire map being open from the start are that some players get overwhelmed easy (Me included)

Everything about this game sounds too good to be true. I am trying not to get too excited just incase something gets cut before release :P

if you're that desperate mate, I know a few pubs up around your area that you can do that. You don't have to wait until september

The reason they have the maps open up slowly is so that you have a reason to play the story. It is also easier to learn your way around a small area and add on each section rather than to have one huge map.
