SimCity has sold 1.6 million since launch

SimCity has sold 1.6 million copies since launch, despite a huge amount of negative press surrounding the games server issues.

EA Labels president Frank Gibeau was understandably delighted with this news as he revealed it during the companies latest earnings call, although he was quick to point out that EA had "learned [its] lesson" following the game's troubled launch.

"[SimCity is] a great game that has recovered from a challenging launch," said Gibeau. "The short explanation for the launch is that the initial rush of consumers overwhelmed our game service, disrupting the consumer experience.

"The key takeaway here: SimCity is a highly resilient, global franchise with a long service life in front of it. But we learned our lesson and are now building better processes to anticipate and service demand. This won't happen again."

What do you think of this news? Are you happy that EA has 'learned its lesson?"

All press is good press, 1.6 million sold probably a couple of hundred thousand of them were people buying it to make a complaint and post it on the internet

I'll be honest, I only bought it because it came with a free game on Origin. Really wanted NFS:Most Wanted but couldn't justify it's £20 price tag and I couldnt justify Sim City at £40. Getting them both for £40, I could definitely justify!
