Sony financial results show profit

Sony's released Sony its financial results for fiscal year 2012 today, revealing that it's finally made a profit for the first time in four years.

It's difficult to tell sales of the companies consoles since it combines both PS3/PS2 totals, which currently stand at 80.4 million compared to Xbox 260?s 77.2 million, however given the PS2's age and the last PS3 total of 76 million, it could be safe to assume that PS3 is now outselling Microsoft's machine.

As far as games go, Sony shifted slightly less than this time last year, although they still seem to be flying off the shelves, with 153.9 million in revenue gained from PS2/PS3 sales and 28.8 million gained from PS Vita and PSP sales.

Sony is now expecting even more profit next year thanks to the introduction of PS4, however expenses for research and development will also be included next time around, so any profit could very well be cancelled out.

Good news. They'll also made a load of profit on selling their HQ and stuff like that. If the PS4 continues to get them profit from the get go, could be a good few years for Sony. Just need to sort out their TV side of things. Too expensive when Samsung give you the same TV at quite a bit cheaper.

From what I've gathered this profit only comes due to the massive layoffs and selling their HQ a few month back :/
