Earlier this year it was revealed that Just Cause 2 developer Avalanche Studios was working on a new title though to be Just Cause 3 or possibly a Mad Max game following the reveal of a few blurry images. Well, it turns out these screens were from an unannounced "steampunk-style game," that according to the developer has now been put on hold.
Speaking to Edge Magazine, Avalanche Studios' CEO Christofer Sundberg discussed these images, while also revealing that the studio also has some other projects in the pipeline.
"[The images] were from a steampunk-style game we had in development that we put on ice. I really love that art style, and to combine it with sandbox gameplay is a dream of mine. Fortunately, being an independent developer I can control my own destiny and we'll make something in that world sooner or later."
When pushed on what the developer is working on in the meantime, Sundberg said, "We are developing for both current and next-gen, but the earliest we'll be able to talk about it and go into any detail is after the games we are working on are announced. We're also announcing new, interesting tech development that we do internally, but that is not until later this year."
Could a new Avalanche game be announced at E3? Maybe there is hope for Just Cause 3 or that Mad Max game after all.
