Japanese Charts, May 20 - 26: Shin Megami helps 3DS dominate

The latest Japanese charts are in, showing a new 3DS title at number one in the shape of Shin Megami IV. The title managed to sell an impressive 188,562 units, seeing it outsell the debuts of Kamen Rider and Resident Evil: Revelations, both of which arrived for PS3.

In fourth spot was another 3DS title, Friend Collection: New Life, while PS Vita managed to sneak into the top five thanks to Valhalla Knights 3.

As for hardware it's pretty much as you were, although one thing is evident, if Microsoft wants to break Japan it has a lot of work to do. Xbox 360 only managed to sell382 units last week, that's three times less than the Wii.

Here's the charts.

Wow... record low once again for Wii U sales, and on a week where it had a major release appear on it no less. Now selling less than PSP to boot! Oh man what a disaster.

Ouch. Look at the Vita. Doing worse than it was prior to the price slash. And it's been out for well over a year so has way more games on it.

Vita was selling sub-10k prior to the price cut (Not nearly as badly as Wii U is, but still low) and is still up over last week, with further spikes likely when the next batch of notable releases arrive if recent trends are any indicator. Not saying it's doing great but it's unquestionably in a better place now than at the start of the year.
