Sony hires new PR company to help broaden PlayStation's reach

Sony is stepping up its UK PR drive by hiring a new company to help with advertising the PS4, PS3 and PlayStation Vita.

UK marketing company, Fever, has been hired to 'extend the appeal' of PlayStation’s existing consoles, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, including reaching out to new audiences, such as the family and casual gaming markets, as well as helping with the launch of the PS4.

Fever is also assisting in PR campaigns for software releases from Sony Computer Entertainment UK including Beyond: Two Souls, Rain, Puppeteer and Invizimals.

David Wilson, head of PR at Sony Computer Entertainment UK, said: "With the launch of PlayStation 4 on the horizon, this is arguably the most important time in PlayStation's history. With Fever, we feel we have an agency that understands our target consumers and can develop insight-led ideas that will resonate with the right people. We are confident its experience will help us push PlayStation to new heights."

Only time will tell what difference this makes to the reach of Sony's products.

A very good move. finding a broader audience is never a bad thing. Sony's marketing has always been a little hit and miss in the UK, with games sometimes being released with hardly any marketing at all. A better strategy for the PS4 is definitely needed.

@troublemaker Sony adverting is better than Atelier Totori Plus for the West :P What Sony need is getting back to PS1 area, where you shown gameplay
