Microsoft show off Xbox One exclusive Ryse

Microsoft's E3 conference has kicked off its next-gen focus with Ryse: Son of Rome, which is set to release exclusively on Xbox One.

Initially announced in 2011 as a Kinect title, the title now seems to be a more traditional action game, with button prompts suggesting a standard control scheme. Whether Kinect will be integrated into the game at all is unknown.

The gameplay shows an army of Roman soldiers storming a beach and breaching a castle. There's heavy usage of QTEs and squad commands amongst bloody, violent gameplay.

The fighting itself is reminiscent of God of War and it's likely that Microsoft will expect the Crytek developed IP to provide strong competition for Sony's exclusive franchise.

The game will launch exclusively on Xbox One when the console launches later this year. You can see the footage that was shown at the conference below.

Looks so much better now it's not a Kinect-only game. Definitely interested in this!
